Congrats to The 2008 IPF VBC Champions All 4 One!!!  POWER RANKINGS RIGHT HERE...Pics on the Way...

A.  I want to begin this update by congratulating All 4 One on getting the job done, and winning our first ever volleyball classic!  I'll save my game thoughts for my power rankings below.  We have lots of pictures on the way, so keep it locked in for those.

B.  The 1st year of an event like this is always the hardest.  So I'd like to thank Becky Kurikeshu & Jenet Poopalan for their help with this year's event.

I'd also like the thank Reny Simon, Andrew Samkutty, Teena John, Sony Thomas, Jaison John, Susan Kurikeshu as well as the members of the various teams in attendance that helped us with score-keeping/line judging.  If I missed anyone, many thanks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

2008 POWER RANKINGS

All 4 One:  Shout out to team captain Angela Lazarus.  All 4 One was pretty talented all around.  They had good spikers, setters, and blockers. They also had the assistance of a junior Olympian in Jose!  Still it wasn't a cakewalk for them as a few teams gave them a run.  Look forward to the return of the defending champs in 2009!

1

NY Shadows:  Shout out to team captain Binu Varughese.  NY really brought it to the IPF-VBC.  They went 5-0 in the regular season, and were the only team to beat the eventual champions, All 4 One.  Very talented all around team.  What was up with Brary though?

2

Maryland Storm:  Shout out to team captains Dilshan Rajagopal and some nut by the name of Chris George.  MD Storm had a decent tourney, making the playoffs and giving the eventual champion All 4 One a run for their money in the playoffs.

3

iSpike:  Shout out to team captain Becky Kurikeshu.  iSpike had the most energy of any team there, with all the chants, "BOOYAKASHAAA"  Haha, what?  They also had the best fan base come out.  Look forward to their return in 2009.

4

North of 42:  Shout out to team captain Jenet Poopalan.  This team had the longest journey and gave the eventual champion All 4 One a run for their money.  Look forward to seeing you guys in the future!

5

MOCOYOGRO PANTHERS:  Shout out to team captain Tim Carkhuff for bringing this squad out.  Come out and do some damage in 2009!

6

We look forward to seeing all of you next year!

Training Camp Thoughts

I haven't written in a while so I wasn't so sure what I should write about to get back in the flow of things. I had a topic in mind but I had to scratch it because it was WAY to serious of a subject matter for the way I am feeling these days. A.K.A I AM HAPPY! LIFE IS GOOD! But no seriously at the end of the day the topic I chose to write about was a no brainer for me. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL! Well whether you are or not here goes.

It is almost unbelievable that we are already getting ready for a brand new football season. But since training camps are opening up all around the country this week it is time to get back in the swing of things. My first thoughts for the preseason have to do with our friend Bret Favre. BRET ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!????? You decide to retire, hold a press conference at which you start CRYING and say all this stuff about how you don't have the desire anymore and you have had enough, and now you are trying to force the Packers into releasing you so that you can play for another team! As a Bears fan I have always said that even though I hate the Packers I respected Bret Farve. But all of that has changed after the last couple of weeks. The Packers should under no circumstances give into Bret. He retired, they moved on, and they are not obligated to let him play for another team. If he really wants to play still then he will report to Packers camp and suit up as the back up to Aaron Rodgers. It is as simple as that. Anytime a player thinks he can hold a franchise hostage for a trade or more money I will stand behind the team.

The Packers cannot be held responsible for moving on once a player decides he no longer wants to play. So for them to try and bend over backwards just to make sure Bret it happy makes no sense. Sure he is probably one of the greatest QB's in NFL history, certainly the greatest Packer QB of all time, which is why they would be nuts just to let him go and play for another team. ESPECIALLY A TEAM IN THEIR OWN DIVISION!!! He has the audacity to believe they would ever allow him to be released and play for the Minnesota Vikings!  Bret Wake UP, you need to just go away and enjoy retirement, let the Packers retire your jersey and make your way to the local golf course.

- OK now it is a bit early for me to pick a Super Bowl winner but just let me say this, I am willing to bet my first born child that the NY Giants will not repeat as champions. But more on predictions later. OK that's it for this week.

Peace I'm Out!

Growth Takes Time

At 6 and a half months pregnant, I have truly come to realize that human development is an amazing thing. Each night, I read a book that tells me how my baby is developing for that day.

The past 6 months have felt like an eternity and the 3 more to go seem so far off. Yet with each passing day, my beautiful daughter grows and grows. From the neurons in her brain to her tiny fingernails, her health is dependent on time. Each day affords her an opportunity to become stronger and stronger so that by her due date she is ready to handle life.I remember thinking one day, imagine what things would be like if the gap between conception and birth was shorter. What would things be like if I became a mother over night and didn’t have 9 months to prepare? It was then that I realized, God affords parents-to-be time, to prepare for the baby physically, mentally and emotionally. The 9 months give the baby opportunities to grow day by day and help the parents prepare for their baby’s arrival.

The same is with us. There are lessons that God will teach us over a period of time. You may feel frustrated because you have gone through the same lesson for a long period of time and want to tackle it already. Well God may have you working through a particular lesson for a period of time so that you can be provided the optimal opportunity to overcome it. It is within that season that you will also experience maximum growth, when you let God teach you what he knows you need to learn for that season.

1 Corinthians 3:1-I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.

Now if you are going through the same lesson, just remember that growth takes time. For you have only 1 or 2 options….

You can decide that you are tired of the lesson God is trying to teach you and you can decide to “do your own thing.” This will make you a “premature” Christian, just like a premature baby. You will not be “full term” because you have not allowed God to teach you the lessons and develop the character He needs you to have for the plan He has for your life. Instead you will not be strong and will be easily uprooted.

Ezekiel 17:9- 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Will it thrive? Will it not be uprooted and stripped of its fruit so that it withers? All its new growth will wither. It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by the roots.

Your second option is to decide to commit yourself to the Lord and know that with each day that you are where God wants you to be, that is one more day that you are learning vital lessons that are all part of Gods plan for your life. You then will be strong and be able to face adversity and hold strong to the ways and lessons the Lord has taught you.

Job 17:8-10-The righteous will hold to their ways, and those with clean hands will grow stronger.

So as you commit today to remain in God’s will as he teaches you the lesson He has in store for you, be sure to remain in His Word and pray for continued guidance so that you can  be sure to be exactly where God wants you to be.
