I’ve been looking for an outlet to share something amazing that happened in my life, and I can’t think of any better place than IndaPhatFarm.  Please bear with me while I ramble…

So what happened that was so amazing?  Check this out…Joe Gibbs will be hired as head coach of the Washington Redskins!!!

Yeah, yeah, I can hear the comments now: “wow, someone needs to define amazing for this guy” or “ummm, like what a loser” or “uh-vun vat-ah”.  For the people with these ludicrous thoughts running through their minds, let me make an analogy, SAT-style, that will hopefully bring you “into the light”: Joe Gibbs is to the Redskins as Mahatma Gandhi was to India’s independence (by the way, what was Hillary Clinton thinking when she made jokes about Mahatma Gandhi working in a gas station?…Benj will probably write on that soon enough).  Ok, so maybe I am exaggerating a little bit, but Gibbs will free the Skins from their losing ways, and from being ruled by the Cowboys and the Eagles in the NFC East (sorta’ like the British ruled the Indians…eh?).  Ok fine, maybe the analogy sucked, but the occasion is one of the greatest things that has happened to Washington DC in the past 11 years, and THAT I am not exaggerating about.  More than any other city, Washington DC lives and breathes the Redskins; in Washington DC, a Redskins win can cure the Monday blues; in Washington DC, a Redskins win decreases crime because all the crooks are at the games.

In Washington DC, a Redskins win makes pavika taste sweet.  Yep, a Redskins win is just that refreshing.  So imagine how its been for Washington DC and us Redskins fans suffering without a winning season for FOUR straight seasons!!  Joe Gibbs is…let me repeat, Joe Gibbs IS the man (not anything against women) to turn this underachieving team around and make Washington DC and Skins fans around the world happy again.  So right about now, you understand how momentous this occasion is, or you still think I need to get a life; nevertheless, let me explain why I get so giddy when I think of Gibbs standing on the Redskins sideline again.

Coach Gibbs is a Hall of Fame coach who has won THREE SuperBowls; howmany have the Redskins won since he has left?…jeero times.  He made the playoffs eight times in his 11 year tenure; how many times have the Redskins been to the playoffs since he has left?…once, for one game.  Gibbs had a record of 140-65 with the Skins; how about since he has left?…200-0.

(if you just did a double-take at that win-loss record, thanks for paying attention…if not, PAY ATTENTION!)

The correct record since Gibbs has departed has been 75-102.  I’ll leave all you smart IndaPhatFarmers out there to figure out what the winning percentages are…it’s just algebra.  But clearly, the Redskins were better under Gibbs.  Ok, so the naysayers (mainly scared Cowgirl fans) make ignorant comments like he doesn’t know how to deal with modern athletes, or that he is too old at 63 to be an effective coach, or that he is just doing it for the money, etc.  Complete foolishness!  I would take the time to tell you why it is complete foolishness, but I’m getting lazy and don’t want to bore the reading audience with too much detail so here is the abridged version.  Gibbs is surrounding himself with a contemporary staff that knows how to deal with the modern athlete (and hopefully…just maybe…a man like Gibbs can even change the modern athletes on the Skins); Dick Vermeil is 67 and is coaching a successful team, and finally Gibbs is one of the top 5 coaches of all time (including Lombardi, Bill Walsh, etc.) and doesn’t need the fame or money.

So now that you understand…get giddy with me.   Redskins fans, it’s going to be fun.
