Alpha Team

Alpha Team was already at their wits end. Why did it have to happen to them? What did they do to deserve this torture? Vinod was still in a state of shock after the death of Grace and he remained in silence for a while. The team made their way into the island interior and Becky noticed a few buildings off in the distance. They looked run-down and very creepy, and the fact that lightening was cracking and dark clouds were setting in, didn’t help much. Quick guys, we need to find shelter, its going to start raining like crazy soon, lets run to those buildings over there, cried Becky. Are you out of your mind Becky? There could be more dinosaurs in there, more T-Rex’s, more scary looking animals, yelled Frank. Jason grabbed Frank by the shoulders and said, Frank, you’re hallucinating, stop it! We will go to the buildings for shelter and we may be able to find food, now let’s go. Becky, Jason, Frank, Chris B. and the still shaken Vinod started to run towards the buildings as the rain started to pour. Vinod started to tumble in the swallowing wet mud, but Chris B. lifted him up, and they all began to run again.

Alpha Team stopped in the front of the huge buildings, trying to catch their breath. Slowly looking up, their breath faltered on them again. The building looked like a ten-story, dirty-brown old factory shop that looked very frightening. Frank could have sworn he saw some movement inside. THATS IT! I’m outta here, I am not risking my life to a bunch of wild dinosaurs. You all can go in without me, said Frank. The silence from Vinod finally broke. Frank, get back here! We are all in this together. Did you see what happened to my wife back there? She is dead now, so do you want that to happen to you as well? You might as well stay here with us and we can all stick together. Slowly, Frank walked back to the group, and Becky led the way inside the creeping doors of the old factory. They walked into a dark room that was only being lighted by the lightening from outside. They scattered around the room to look for a light switch, but there was none to be found. Wait, I have a lighter, said Chris B. as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his lighter. It illuminated the place where they were standing around, and they could see old worn-out machines of some sort. They couldn’t make out what kind of machines they were, but from the looks of it, they didn’t look so nice. Lets go further into the building; we might be able to find something to eat, said Vinod.

They walked a few more steps and heard some moving coming from upstairs. They all stopped, but then the moving stopped as well. They continued again, but then the moving continued too. I think something or someone is up there!, said Frank. They all slowly walked into a room, with Chris B. guiding the way with his lighter. They saw a refrigerator in the back corner of the room. Oh please, please, please let there be food in there, said Vinod. He opened the door, and to their delight, there were a number of sandwiches, water bottles, and cans of fruit. They all ate some and decided to start rationing some of the food leftover for when they would be hungry again. All of a sudden they heard loud sounds coming from outside, almost like footsteps. Alpha Team could feel themselves moving and vibrating with the sounds coming from outside. They had to react fast, THINGS WERE NOT LOOKING GOOD.

Chapter 2: The Lost World

Vinod had become frantic. Why hadn’t he noticed her leaving? Why didn’t she tell him! Daylight was beginning to break and Grace was still missing. At some point during the night, she had been taken. That was the only reasonable explanation because there was no reason for her to leave.

Alpha had fanned out in search of her. It was incredibly hot and humid. Stopping for only a second to catch his breath, Vinod heard a blood curdling scream. A scream he would never forget.

Running faster than humanly possible, Vinod tore through the jungle in the direction of the screams. Reaching a clearing, he saw that Frank and Jason were already there, and they had ashen looks on their faces. “What’s happened?! Where is she!”

Frank and Jason immediately restrained Vinod. “Vinod, NO! They’re down there with her, you can’t!” Almost on cue, Vinod saw them. He couldn’t believe it. Dinosaurs! There were dinosaurs down there! They were circling around Grace, who wasn’t moving. They looked like the raptors from the Jurassic Park movie. Unbelievable.

Elbowing Jason in the ribs and pushing Frank to the ground, Vinod slid his way down the ravine after Grace. But, by the time he reached where Grace was, she was already gone.

The farther he would try to run after her, the farther away they would drag her.

After a long chase, Becky, Chris B, Frank and Jason found Vinod on his knees in a nearby clearing. He wouldn’t speak. They all stood in silence for what must have been an hour. Then, the rumbling came.

Toward the east of Alpha, trees were cracking and falling. As the rumbling intensified, the ground began to shake. Something was coming through the trees, and it was BIG.

Taking charge, Frank managed to drag the stricken Vinod into the bushes with Becky and Chris B stumbling in after them.

As Alpha peered through the bushes, a herd of hadrosaurs emerged. The 30ft long plant eaters were running at full speed down the ravine. They seemed agitated, and when Alpha saw what was chasing them, they knew why. Becky’s heart stopped beating for a second and Frank contemplated getting up and running for his life.

It was a T-REX

Most of the hadrosaur herd had managed to get away, but one of them had strayed behind, a fatal mistake. The REX pinned the poor creature down with one of its massive legs and bit down hard with its huge mouth. Roaring in triumph, and with blood and intestines hanging from its mouth, it began to feast.

Alpha slowly began creeping away, when all of a sudden, the T-Rex’s head snapped up and stared right at Alpha. No one so much as blinked. For a moment, it seemed like the REX knew exactly where they were, but it resumed eating. Eerie.

After walking about a mile into the island’s interior, Becky noticed it first. There were several buildings about half a mile from where they were. They looked worn, and were becoming part of the jungle. A heavy cloud cover was beginning to set in, meaning a torrential down pour was imminent. They had to find shelter. Those buildings seemed hospitable, and there might be some food and water in there.

Frank and Jason both think they saw movement around the building complex, but their not sure. Vinod is still reeling from personal tragedy, and there are hard choices to be made. What to do?

-----------------------------------

It was still dark and Sona couldn’t sleep. There were bugs crawling all over her. The rest of Bravo was asleep, and she needed to wash her face. Anything to get the bugs off her. The water’s edge was only about 400 ft away, so she decided to take a quick refreshing dip.

Walking by the moonlight to the waters edge, she kneeled forward and dipped her hands into the cool, refreshing flow. Man, it felt good. But before she could even turn around, she was jolted forward into the water. She couldn’t swim.

“Help! Somebody help!” she screamed as she gulped in water. The current was too powerful. It was dragging her out to sea. Sona tried her best to get back to shore, but it was no use. As she sank beneath the waves, Sona prayed for her friends still on the island, “God, save them”. Silence. The ocean had claimed its victim.

Sam, (the high priest), was the first to wake for his morning devotions. But his prayer soon turned into terror. “Wake up everyone! Sona’s gone!!”

Soy and Crystal were the first to check the beach. Right at the waters edge, they found the slippers. Silver laced slippers. They were Sona’s. “Noooooo!!” Soy’s scream was what brought the rest of Bravo to her. When they saw Sona’s slippers, they knew something had happened, and the next discovery Binu would make was far more startling.

It was horrifying. Someone, not something, SOMEONE had pushed Sona into the water. There was a second set of footprints along side Sona’s, and they were human footprints. Who could it be? How could they do this? Could this person be among us?

Soy was in a grief stricken panic, her sister was gone. Putting her arm around Soy, Jessy tried to console her, but to no avail. They had to get off this island, and soon.

When daylight broke, Bravo decided to continue down the coastline. Everyone was pretty quiet, no one had anything to say. After about a mile of walking, they came upon an old road. From what Binu could tell, it looked to head toward the interior of the island. Finding nothing on the coast, Bravo decided to go down the worn out road. About 2 miles in, they came to a turn in the road.

Something began to hiss

Sam immediately motioned for everyone to stay completely still. Moving very slowly toward the turn in the road and peeking around, Sam’s eyes widened in terror. Dinosaurs! Raptors! Snarling and hissing over a dead dinosaur, six raptors were feeding.

Sam turned around towards Bravo and signaled them to stay back. When he turned back to look at the raptors, one of them was looking right at him. It was larger than the rest. They just gazed at each other. The large raptor raised its head and let out a sharp hiss, causing the other raptors to scatter into the forest. The large raptor remained there, gazing. Something was wrong.

Sam was in the middle of the road with a raptor looking directly at him. He could feel its damp clamminess and he could see the soulless eyes. Sam was sweating, his heart was racing and his throat was dry. He knew he had to stay still but his arms started to hurt and his breathing became ragged. He knew that the rest of the team was somewhere there in the brush. The raptor turned it’s head toward its left side.

Jessy and Binu were hiding there under a huge tree trunk. Jessy motioned to Binu that the others were on the other side. Binu put his finger to his lips to signal silence. He noticed that her eyes were filled with fear and that her face was white as chalk. Jessy knew that 5 other raptors were somewhere in the vicinity. Binu noticed that his palms were sweating and held her shoulder and prayed that Sam would get through this.

Scrambling out of the road, Crystal and Soy ran into the brush and near a rock formation. Crystal was carrying the supplies and it left her unbalanced as she climbed up the rock. She slid down and scraped her arm from her wrist to her elbow. As she slid down Soy reached down and grabbed her. Her face hitting the rock and bruising her cheek. She got a hold of Crystal and pulled her up into the crevice. Both were covered in Crystal’s blood. They both bandaged the injured arm and nestled into a crevice. Only peering out to see if Sam could see them.

Crystal had a flashlight and motioned to Soy that she could distract the dinosaur with the light. But as Soy was about to reply, she grabbed Crystal’s arm and squeezed. Crystal looked in the direction that Soy was frozen to. Meanwhile Sam was thinking if I get out of this then I am gonna see the world, if not then I’m some pretty good dino chow. He felt the earth move from beneath him, his knees nearly buckled. And Binu and Jessy saw the leaves around them shiver. The Raptor in front of Sam still stood mesmerized at Sam, then suddenly, it jumped toward him and as it’s head approached Sam’s it suddenly looked up. What Sam did not know but only felt was that there was something large behind him. Crystal saw it and jumped. It was another raptor.

This one was as large as the one in front of Sam. Binu saw it too. He stood up as the raptor approached Sam. Sam was sandwiched in between two raptors. Binu saw that the two raptors were locked in a staring glare. He extricated him self from the tree roots and neared the brush. Jessy followed him, there was no way she would stay behind by herself with the other raptors around. Jessy and Soy saw it at the same time, the second raptor raised its head and stood on it’s feet about to lunge at the other raptor. They both saw Binu run forward and push Sam out of the way. The second raptor would have crushed Sam had he not been pushed out of the way. Just as Binu and Sam reached the side where Soy and Crystal were, the second raptor tore the skin off the neck of the first raptor. Crystal and Soy slipped off the rock and brought both boys to the rock. They had to get Jessy. While Crystal was helping Sam up the rock, Soy and Binu could see Jessy running toward them. She was shaking and crying at the same time. They both held her up and brought her up the rock. The raptors were still going at it. The first raptor let out a shrill whistle and jumped over the brush to where Binu and Jessy were. The second raptor followed in pursuit. The Bravo team was alone for now. Everyone gingerly crawled up the rock to a flat spot and assessed their injuries. Crystal was healing well, but she knew it would be a bad scar. Jessy had scratches and bruises. Sam was just sore from his ordeal. Binu had a cut jaw from pushing Sam out of the way. Soy had a bruised face from climbing up the rock.

After all the wounds were taken care of, they left Sam to rest on the rock ledge. After peering around a bit, they noticed a structure in the distance. Closer examination revealed it to be an INGEN structure. It was large and they couldn’t have noticed it earlier in the excitement. They rounded the structure and found a door with a padlock. They all knew without speaking that they needed to bust through that door. Jessy rummaged through Crystal’s bag of supplies and found a tank of portable oxygen. She had this idea of turning up the valve and ignited a small explosion. So the bravo team taped the tank to the door with the valve facing the padlock. They found some matches and Binu ignited the gas. The tank flew out and hit some tree still hissing. And the padlock crumbled. Soy and Jessy went to get Sam, while Binu and Crystal went it.

Binu flicked the light switch and found that only emergency lights went on. They found that they were in an INGEN mini-receiving center. It was big enough to hold 2 sets of bunk beds and supplies like water and dried food. Soy, Jessy and Sam stumbled in gladdened that there was a brief respite to all this excitement. The first thing Crystal did was shut the door. They searched all over the place and found walkie talkies and supplies. There was a phone and it was dead. There were also monitors but nothing was working. The only thing they did find was some sort of tunnel beneath the structure. But Crystal was adamant on not opening anything until everyone was rested. So she double locked that door and slid one of the bunks next to it. They found a kerosene stove and ate some bland canned food. They could hear rain starting to fall, and the lightning and thunder soon followed. Grateful that they were fed and in some dry shelter, they recited in prayer together and fell into an exhausted sleep.
