New Interview & More...

A.  Sungeeta Jain, the founder of The Orphanage Project has been interviewed for The Tonight Show, she marks our 40th interview milestone.  It's well worth your time, so be sure to check it out...

Please note: This is a lengthy interview due to its importance.

B.  Redskins 16  Saints 10:  Well, it was too little, too late.  What do you want me to say?  Normally, beating the #1 offense in the league on their home turf would be something to write home to momma about, but at 5-9, all we have left is being a spoiler, and yes Cowboys fans, we just beat the team that spanked you at home.

That's 4 straight 100+ yd games for Ladell Betts.  I don't like Brian Baldinger, one of the play by play guys, but he brought up a good point when he said, Redskins fans must be saying to themselves, this guy is running better than Clinton Portis.

Someone buy that guy a breadstickMore later....

New Columnist & More....

A.  IPF is pleased to welcome on board our 21st columnist, Johanna Ephraim.

Johanna will be updating her new column, once a month, on Thursdays.  Be sure to check out her first entry later this week.

B.  Shout out to Blue Team:  We lost a heart-breaker 13-12 in the championship (flag football).  Lets do some damage in 2007 fellas.

C.  Falcons 24  Redskins 14:  Well, we can put to rest all the "P" predictions.  I'd like to make a statement though.  After posting 2 consecutive 100 yd games, Ladell Betts is proving he can be a feature back if given the opportunity.

With TJ Duckett backing him up, perhaps its time to trade Clinton Portis for some draft picks and/or some defensive players?  Betts/Duckett are more along the lines of a proto-typical Joe Gibbs style running attack.  We could really use some help on d-line and cornerback.  We need more talent on defense, it's that simple.

New BSC Media next Monday.  Keep it locked.

What to Do? Ask Lidu.

A.  That's right.  We want to welcome on board our newest columnist, Lidu Koshy. He's here to answer all your questions.  Questions about what you ask?  Anything under the sun: Married Life?  Politics?  International Travel?  Car Insurance?  Yep, he has you covered there too.  Be sure to take a look at Lidu's background via his first post on the Message Board.

You may be asking yourself, what's up with Lidu's pic?  Well, in the interest of keeping his identity private, we had a drawing commissioned in his likeness.

Lidu section will be different from the other IPF staff in that his section will take place entirely on the Message Board.  Here's how this thing will work.  It's very simple.

Post your questions on Lidu's thread in the Main Message Board.  Lidu will then select the best questions (within the realm of reason), and respond to them on a weekly basis.  He's going to login to the Message Boards as much as he can, but keep in mind, the man has a family.  Also keep in mind, he's not going to hold back.

Lastly, welcome once again to Lidu, and HAVE AT IT.

B.  Tampa Bay 20  Redskins 17:  Well, there's hope for the future.  Jason Campbell played about as well as a guy playing his first NFL game could be expected to play.  About 200 yds passing with 2 TDs and zero INTs.

I liked how poised he was, and how he was able to find the open receivers by spreading the ball around to multiple targets.

What has happened to Greg Williams and his vaunted defensive schemes?  Our defense cost us this game.  Watching Campbell improve is about all that's left in this season....

New Interview, New Article - The IPF Post & More....

A.  Roy Geevarghese has been interviewed for The Tonight Show.  Check it out.....

B.  Well it's been a while since we revisited The IndaPhatFarm Post, but we're going to today.  Be sure to check out an '05-'06 recap of The Orphanage Project's progress, written by its founder, Sungeeta Jain Click Here to check it out.

C.  Lidu is Coming:  I'm sure you've noticed the above banner by now.  Stay tuned in for the official launch of IPF's newest section, and our newest columnist, Lidu.

This coming Monday, Nov. 20th.  You don't want to miss it.

D.  Newt is Right:  Had the President announced Rumsfeld's resignation prior to the election, I don't think the Republicans would have lost the Senate.  The results from Montana/Virginia were so close that an announcement like that would have held those states in check.  In any case, these power shifts come in cycles, usually after one party has been in power too long.

E.  Eagles 27  Redskins 3:  Well, Mark Brunell didn't throw any picks.   (I know he did, but I'd like to remain in a world where he didn't)  The problem is, he didn't throw any touchdowns either.  With both Dallas and Philly winning (NY is too far ahead wins wise), our season is officially over.  Please no more e-mail with, "but Chris, if Chicago, NY, Dallas, Philly, NO all lose then...."

That's like saying IPF webmaster Binu will actually write an update.

Not interested in buying that car insurance.  We need to see if Jason Campbell is the future and start the kid now.  Brunell just doesn't have enough left in the tank to get the job done.  Campbell can make plays with his feet and get the ball downfield.

Monday, November 6, 2006 - Chung Lao: Revised Tuesday: 12:27 PM

Congrats, New BSC Media & More....

A.  Once again, the Syndicate wishes to congratulate Jaime & Brenda Rivera on the birth of their baby boy, Stephen Daniel Rivera, this past Wednesday, November 1st, at 11 am.  7 lbs, 7 ounces.  The new family is doing well.

B.  Our next batch of clips from The 2006 BSC are available for download.

C.  Redskins 22  Cowboys 19:  Well the Skins pulled it out in the end.  Wasn't pretty, we got lucky on that last series with the blocked kick and penalty, and kick barely making it, but there's no if and's or buts about it.  Feels good to beat Dallas.  For those of you that don't understand, you probably never will.

I like the fact that during J.Gibb's second tenure, the Skins are competitive again, against the Boys.  The rivalry had become a joke before he came back.

This is a step in the right direction, but I'm far from making any sort of prediction.

Stay Tuned.

The Orphanage Project - Make a Difference..

A.  All, here at IPF, we have our share of fun topics, clips, pics, etc, but our main goal is to make a difference.  There are several ways/organizations you and I can get involved in to do this.  I'd like to tell you about just one of these now.

A friend showed me this website several months back, called The Orphanage Project.  Here's the bio of its Founder, Sungeeta Jain:

"Sungeeta Jain is of Indian heritage, but was born and raised in the United States of America.   On June 14, 1986, Sungeeta and her family were in a devastating car accident that left Sungeeta confined to a wheelchair. At the age of ten, Sungeeta had to relearn how to live her life, from putting on her socks, to moving about using a wheelchair.

At the same time, she learned how to set goals and strive to achieve them. She learned how to never give up. She learned how to believe in herself. She learned how to trust in God.  Just months after the accident, Sungeeta began the sixth grade. Determined not to let her disability hinder her, she became Student Body President, won various awards, and took part in the school play, all while remaining at the top of her class. Since then, she has continued to concentrate on what she can do rather than on what she can’t do, trusting that God will make all things possible.

Among her many accomplishments and the many blessings of God in her life, Sungeeta won the title of Miss Teen of Washington in 1993, becoming the first person in the world in a wheelchair to win a pageant against other girls who were not in a wheelchair. She was also third runner up in the Miss Teen of America Pageant.

In 1997, Sungeeta graduated from a top engineering college in the US with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. As an engineering student, she worked as an intern at the world’s foremost aerospace company, The Boeing Company. She then went on to get a Juris Doctor degree in Law. Out of college she worked as a law clerk to two federal judges. Sungeeta then began her ascent up the partnership ladder as an associate at Perkins Coie, a premier law firm in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.

Ever since she was a little girl, Sungeeta dreamed of opening an orphanage and school in India. But she had always thought the dream was still 5-10 years in the future. In August 2005, after saving up her earnings over the past few years, she was able to take the first step in making that dream a reality. She began the process of purchasing approximately 9 acres of land approximately 40 kilometers away from the heart of New Delhi.

Then on September 16, 2005, based on the undeniable call of God, Sungeeta took a major step towards making her dream a reality. She gave notice at her job and made the decision to move to India for a year in order to start The Orphanage Project."

and it's mission statement:

"The primary mission of The Orphanage Project is providing the orphaned, destitute, outcast, unloved, needy, sick, handicapped and/or dying persons, with a home, love, happiness, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual nourishment, the highest level of education possible, and a hope for a bright future.

The vision of The Orphanage Project is to one day have a self-sustaining community consisting of a children’s home, orphanage, school, university, training center, women’s shelter, elderly person’s home, place of worship, hospital, library, park, play fields, technology center, shops, and other facilities that help a community to succeed. Our vision is to one day establish such communities all over the world."

You can find out more about donating/getting involved with The Orphanage Project at the website itself.  We all have the capability to make a difference, it's just a matter of finding the right one, and having enough motivation to follow through.  Think about it.

I hope to spotlight more of these in the future.

IPF Media Page Re-Organized & Jason Campbell...

A.  Everyone, we've re-organized our media page into a more user friendly format, eliminating a lot of the clutter.  This should make our 151 + clips easier to access.

Click Here to check it out.

B.  Colts 36  Redskins 22:  Time to start Jason Campbell.  I said last week that the Skins had to run the ball effectively to stop the Colts and that didn't happen.  Brunell didn't finish with a bad passer rating, but that last garbage drive doesn't count, and can we please throw the ball PAST THE FIRST DOWN, and not these little dump offs to Betts.

I will always be an admirer of Joe Gibbs, and I'll continue to stand with him, but he made a mistake this off-season, and it was bringing in Al Saunders.  Saunders over-complicated the offense, and we've sputtered all season long, trying to get his offense going.  We should have added the players we needed, and stayed the course with Gibbs continuing to play call.  We would of had a winning record.

7 games into the 2006 season, our run has ended.  I have to be realistic.  2-5 in a super tough division, plus a brutal upcoming schedule has spelled the end.  Don't get me wrong, we will win more games this year, it's just that we have to give Campbell a chance to take his lumps, and get better.  He has zero in-game experience, and we need to see if he really is our QB of the future.

I know the Skins haters are going to come out of the woodwork like never before, so let me make one thing very, very clear.  I am a Skins fan for life.  This is a rough patch that the team will work itself out of.  I'm still a fan of Joe Gibbs, and I believe he can get the Skins turned around, and when they do, you'll be hearing from me.

Believe that.

New Interview & More......

A.  Jessy Joykutty has been interviewed for The Tonight Show.  Be sure to check it out.

B.  Titans 25  Redskins 22:  When you lose to an 0-5 team AT HOME, there can be no excuses.  The Redskins have lost the punishing identity they established last year.  When you have Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts, and T.J. Duckett, with Mike Sellers in the fullback position, you can manhandle people in the running game, which is what the Skins have gotten away from.

Too many dink and dunk screens to Moss, Randel El, etc.  I'm starting to think that bringing Al Saunders on board over-complicated things to the point where simply having Joe Gibbs continue his play calling from last year, with our added weapons, may have been enough.  The Skins made it into the playoffs last year by winning 5 straight games on the back of Clinton Portis.  Brunell can still manage this offense, we just need to run the ball...

If the Redskins don't bring back their punishing style against the Colts, the season will end in the RCA Dome.

Official Release of The 2006 BSC Media Clips...

A.  Well Ladies and Gentlemen, we were able to complete our footage ahead of schedule.  Keep in mind that all games weren't taped, but we've compiled all the available footage.  33 clips total.  19 interviews, and 14 game footage clips.

We will be releasing 3 clips per month all the way up to the 2007 BSC, just like we did last year. it begins:

I've gotten several requests from people wanting to see all the clips now.  Relax.  Take a deep breath.  Be patient, and keep checking in.  This is IPF.  You know how we do.

B.  "Ask Lakshmi Aunty Updated":  Lakshmi has posted her latest piece.

This is 3 straight weeks in a row.  Will the streak continue?  Click Here to read.

C.  Giants 19  Redskins 3:  Well it's gotten to the point playing the Giants where the two teams might as well give each other one win a piece per season.  We can't seem to win up in the Meadowlands, and the Giants have problems at Fedex.

Like I said last week, our secondary has been our Achilles heel all season long, and Eli picked us apart.  The Redskins are not going to win the division this year.  I know a lot of my Skins fans out there are saying, once Shawn Springs comes back we'll be straight but who knows when that'll be?  We're already 0-2 in the division with zero NFC wins.  It's gonna be a wild card berth at best.

It pains me to say this, but as of Week 5, the Chicago Bears have been the most dominant team in the league, and you can bet Jon Flores will be letting the world know about it come Friday. Just remember Jon, that It's a long season.

ALM Updated & Do You Know this Man?

A.  First off, for the second straight week, 'Ask Lakshmi Aunty' has been updated.

Must be Christmas.  Click Here to read.

B.  Do you know this man?  You may have heard of him.  His name is Barak Obama.  If we're all still around, he will become President in our lifetime.  He's a Democrat, he's bi-racial, has plenty of charisma, and most importantly, has supporters on both sides of the aisle.  I think it would be premature for him to run in 2008, but 2012 is a definite possibility, and yes, you're not seeing things, I just gave some love to a Democrat.  You can read more about him here.

C.  Many of you have inquired about the 2006 BSC Media Clips.  Our plan is to start releasing them sometime in November.  Again, we're going to do our best to meet the deadline, but nothing is set in stone.  We want to get quality clips to you.

Appreciate the patience.

D.  Redskins  36  Jacksonville 30 (OT):  Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, this was one of those great games that was really fun to watch.  Edge of your seat thriller.

Mark Brunell is stepping his game up.  He responded with 3 touchdown passes after throwing that early pick.  The guy takes a lot of flack, so let's give him credit where it's due.  Defense was much improved.  Portis went over 100 yds against  one of the best defenses in the league.  He is the key to the Skins.

But the man in this game, was Santana Moss.  If you get this guy the ball out in open space, it's game over.  It took a few games to get the Al Saunders offense in sync, but it appears the team is almost there.   But hey, let's keep things in perspective, we're 2-2.  There's a lot of room for improvement.

My Concerns:  Our secondary is still getting picked apart, that's the recipe to beat the Redskins.  But if we can just hold the line for a few more weeks till Shawn Springs comes back, we can really be scary on defense.

Next up, a rematch w/the NY Giants.  Time for some redemption in the Meadowlands after that embarrassing loss last year.

New Interview & Redskins Recap - Week 2......

A.  The Ghost Who Walks aka The Phantom has been interviewed for The Tonight Show.  Be sure to check it out.

B.  Cowboys 27 Redskins 10:  Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, give me some credit here, I've been very low key about the Skins this season, this is in fact my first update.  But there's no getting around it, my Skins were soundly beaten yesterday by the dreaded Dallas Cowboys.  0-2.  Here's my beef.  Brunell isn't clicking with his receivers.  The offensive line is plain offensive, to say nothing of the defensive line, who couldn't get a sack if there was one o-lineman and 4 d-lineman.

Deep down I think Andre Carter and Adam Archuleta are laughing at their good fortune in taking Daniel Snyder's money, while occasionally having to play the game of football.

I mean, we've invested a lot of money in a coordinator, receivers, defensive players, and with the exception of Randle El, they haven't shown anything over the first 2 games.  I know it's still early, but the ship needs to be righted, now.

If we lose to the lowly Texans, and go 0-3 in the brutal NFC East...................

Remembrance & 2006 BSC Pics: Batches 2,3 & 4

A.  We have added a section in Remembrance in honor of Vinoo Abraham, with the consent of his family.  Please submit all testimonials via this section.  Thank you.

B.  120 more pics have been added from the 2006 BSC.  Be sure to check them out.

Also, the Official 2006 BSC recap has been posted, complete with box scores from the entire event (as well as my recap from last Monday).  You can find it here.

C.  Wedding Congratulations go out to Edgardo & Aylin Martinez on their wedding a few weeks back.  Much Love.

D.  Losing respect for the NBA:  If you told me 5 years ago that players from around the world would be taking it to the U.S. in the world basketball championship, there was no way I would believe you, but that is how far U.S. basketball has fallen.

The NBA is supposed to be the elite level where only the best of the best ball players are on the court.  That's why players from around the world strive for the NBA.  How can a team with the likes of D.Wade, Lebron & Carmelo fall to some relatively unknown Greek players?  Well, that's the first problem.  These players from Greece aren't unknown, they just took it to an all star NBA team.  If you watch highlights of this game, Greece played like a hardened unit, out shooting & out hustling the Americans.

Just remember one thing the next time you watch an NBA game, you are no longer watching the best basketball in the world.

I bet you Gburg could have taken the U.S. team.......WHAT.

2006 BSC Recap - Part 1: Pics & Power Rankings...

A.  Well the 4th annual BSC is in the books.  The Chicago UntouchaBULLS played with determination and resolve and have now matched Philly with 2 TITLES.

Overall I think the tourney went well, we had our most exciting playoff game to date in Philly-DC.  If you weren't there....that's right....you missed it.  Classic.

57 pics have been posted.  More  pics/media coming in.  Stand by.

Shout outs:  I want to take this time to shout out the following people.  Without their help, this event could not have happened.  Lovin Mathew, Leeva Mathew, Bensen Oommen, Jessu Abraham, Danny Lopez, Julie Mathew, Steven Thomas, Stanley John, Fred Moses, Crystal George, Ricardo Avendano, and to anyone I missed, many thanks for your support.

2006 BSC Tournament MVP: Joseph Maldonado

2006 BSC Joe Rosado 3-Point Champion: Tyson Titus

Official 2006 BSC Final Power Rankings:

Every year, the power rankings change.  Here you have it for 2006.

Chicago:  If you don't know, now you know.  This team has now become the official team to beat.  This appears to be a dynasty in the making.  The Tourney MVP Joey Maldonado played lights out.  Solid play as always from Josue Flores and the Hamgeri bros.  Biggest stat: Undefeated in 2006.  Will they make it 3 in a row?

1

DC:  This squad had its best playoff run in team history.  I think a lot of people wrote them off after scraping into the playoffs with a 2-3 record.  Still, they beat Toronto in the first round, and then played what I can only describe as the best, most intense game in the 4 year history of the BSC.  An overtime thriller, which they won 29-28, to propel them to their 2nd Final appearance.  They were a tired team by then, and only lost to the champs by 4 pts.  2007.  Big things.

2

Philly:  The Philly Ballaz continue to be a playoff team that plays hard till the last second.  Philly was the #2 seed in this year's tourney and a rematch of last year's final seemed pretty likely.  Then the Philly-DC game happened.  The intensity level in this game seemed greater than in all the previous games over the 2 days.  Philly lost the game, but I see this as a true motivating factor for them in 2007.

3

Strong Island:  The Stunnaz restored respectability to Long Island.  There were many teams that looked past this squad in '06, and rightfully so after the past 2 years.  But S.Island re-joined the contenders list with a 5-2 overall record, defeating DC in the regular season, and defeating Texas in the first round of the Playoffs.

4

Toronto:  Shout out to Toronto for coming out this year.  They brought a full squad and finished with a 2-4 record.  Probably their biggest highlight was their 19-18 overtime win over Texas.  This team made the playoffs in its first year.  Nothing to hang your head over.  We look forward to seeing you guys next year!

5

Texas:  This team went through a lot to get to the 2006 BSC.  Many players from '05 couldn't make it, but they still sucked it up and came out.  Means a lot.  Even though this team finished with a 2-4 record, they made it into the playoffs, and played their highlight game against Strong Island in the playoffs.  They managed to take it into overtime before falling to the Stunnaz, but they should be commended for doing as much as they did considering their roster.

6

Brooklyn:  Like Texas, Brooklyn was without 2 of their best players this year.  But they didn't make excuses, they still came out and fought hard.  Their team highlight was their 36-18 win over Gburg.  Look forward to seeing you guys next year!

7

Gburg:  Ay yi yi....well this team.....came out.  No, but this is my team, I'll ride this till the wheels fall off.  They were pretty much handled by every team they played.  Shout out to team leader Arun for atleast giving the team a boost and creating a scoring option, but without a big man, the team was hopelessly out-rebounded spelling its doom.  But it's all good.  GBURG IN 2007!!!

8

2007 BSC - First look:  The 2007 BSC is a very interesting prospect.  Chicago will be back, and possibly with Big Dave.  You know Philly and DC will be in the mix.  Texas, however will be in the championship game, in my opinion.  Think about it.  Add Benson Samuel & Kevin/Jason Flores to a roster that made the playoffs without them, AND gave S.Island a run for their money.  Should be interesting.

In conclusion ladies and gents, it's our intention, God Willing, to continue these tournaments in the years to come.  Thanks for supporting us in 2006

A.  Newark has withdrawn from this year's BSC for various reasons, therefore, there have been schedule changes.  The 3 biggest changes are as follows:

1.  B/C we're back to 8 teams (same as last year), there will have to be back to back games for some teams.  There's simply no way around this.  The good news is that this year's tourney is held over 2 days, so players shouldn't be as tired as some were last year.

2.  There is a new revised schedule, please see below.

3.  The 3-point contest has been moved to Saturday, after the regular season.

Wedding Pics & Official Rosters NOW ONLINE

A.  63 pics from the wedding of Tyson & Ansa have been posted.

B.  The highly anticipated 2006 Rosters have been posted.  Please keep in mind that these rosters are subject to change as we get closer to August 25/26, and I can guarantee that they will.  I will keep you updated on any changes.  Let the analysis begin.  Team heads, send all roster edits directly to me at chunglao@hotmail.com.

2 months and counting...

C.  Miami Heat - World Champs:  So Shaq gets the last laugh over one Kobe Bryant eh?  We now see who the more valuable player was to his team.  Dwayne Wade showed what the meaning of a true teammate is.  Put it on the floor, and save the drama.  That's why Kobe had to sit at home and watch this one.

I seriously doubt that Kobe will ever win another ring.  Shaq however, is a different story.  With Wade leading the way, the sky is the limit for the Heat over the next couple of years.  As a Wizards fan, it's unfortunate b/c Wade is already doing to the Wizz what MJ did to the Knicks throughout his career.  Stop them cold.  Should be interesting....

Official Confirmations & New BSC Media.....

A.  It's now official, there is no more speculation.  There will be 9 teams (which is an improvement over last year's 8) at this year's BSC, and they are, in alphabetical order:

Brooklyn, Canada, Chicago, DC, Gaithersburg, Houston, Newark, Philly & Strong Island

Those are the teams that WILL BE ATTENDING this year's BSC.  Yonkers will not be coming out this year as a team, however some of their players will be combining with Newark's team.  This merger was pre-approved by the league office, so relax purists.  I want to shout out all the team heads for your submissions, you are now officially set for the 2006 BSC.  The official game(s) schedule will be posted in July.

The Official Rosters will be released NEXT MONDAY, June 26th.

You have my word.  Keep it locked...

What is the Blessan Samuel Classic?

A.  I am holding off on announcing team confirmations/rosters until I have enough information to post.  Going to take care of it in one fell swoop.  Appreciate the patience.

B.  It's come to my attention that some are questioning the reason for holding the Blessan Samuel Classic.  For all such people, please read the following points:

1.  The Blessan Samuel Classic is held in honor of the late Blessan Samuel (from Houston) who passed on in 2003.  Blessan was very much involved in youth activities, and would have played in this tournament.  We decided to name the tourney after him to honor his memory.

2.  This event isn't being funded by a particular church and/or organization.  It is being funded by the teams in attendance, and isn't held on church property.

3.  This tournament is not a bunch of guys getting together on the playground and beating the living "stuff" out of each other while happening to play basketball.  This is an organized event, complete with a schedule of events, as well as official referees.

4.  This isn't Rocket Science.  This is a basketball tournament.  Please don't make it into more than it is or isn't.  Personal convictions are fine, but I think that people who bash the tournament for various reasons, have never attended the BSC, and are going on pure speculation.

5.  Finally, we the organizers of this tournament have nothing to hide.

All are welcome to attend.  Thank you.

The Nature of War...

A.  There's a lot of US military bashing going on right now in the news.  It all started with Abu Ghraib, now it's this incident in Haditha, where supposedly US troops massacred innocent men, women & children

Now Abu Ghraib was an embarrassment for sure, and the soldiers involved have been/are being prosecuted for their crimes, as they should be.  Investigations are now underway  in Haditha, and if crimes were committed, then I agree, the soldiers involved need to pay a price.  But understand this:

It has become extremely difficult for US troops to distinguish between friendly/enemy combatants.  How can troops fight a "clean war"  when the insurgents are taking hostages, their own countrymen mind you, and making sure Arab TV cameras are recording the "massacre" by US forces.  How do you fight the insurgents who attack, and then blend back into the population?  You can't conduct a surgical strike here.

The cold hard fact of war is that civilians are going to die.  "That's very easy for you to say Chris."  It's the truth though, right? Now is the act of killing civilians right?  Of course not.  But to my knowledge, in every war that's been fought, civilians have died.  It's an unfortunate fact of war that is being exploited by the insurgents.

War isn't a video-game.  It always takes longer than expected.  It's always messy. Unexpected elements are always there.  What's the point of my rant you ask?  My point is this:  I respect those who opposed the war, as I myself have some big doubts about it now.  But, give the 99% of US troops that have integrity and are putting their lives on the line, the benefit of the doubt, before accusing them of the crimes of 1%.

They have earned that much.

B.  NBA Finals - Miami vs Dallas:  I actually want Dallas to win this series, even though I respect Riley, Shaq, and Wade, and it would be nice to watch Kobe sit at home and eat some humble pie, while Shaq hoists up the trophy.  BUT!  I like Mark Cuban's ownership style with the Mavs.  Avery Johnson has proved everyone who doubted him wrong, this guy can coach in the NBA, and I think Dirk is about to step up and do some damage.  Plus the Mavs are the underdogs here.

Ultimately though, there are too many veterans on Miami who have never won a ring:  Wade, Walker, Payton, Williams, Mourning, to let this opportunity slip by.  As a Wizards fan I've seen first hand what Miami's depth can do to an opposing team.  Miami in 6.

C.  BSC Update:  Should have the official list of confirmed teams, and official rosters up next Monday.  It's what you've been waiting for.  Keep it locked in for that...

B.  BSC FINAL CALL:  Gentlemen, June 7th is next Wednesday.  This is the last call for entering this year's BSC.  If you plan on coming out this year, your checks need to be in the mail THIS WEEK.  This is it fellas.

BSC REMINDER: FEES/ROSTERS DUE BY JUNE 7th!!

A.  Gentlemen, you have a little under a month to get your fees/rosters in.  Teams will not be admitted until payment is received.  No Payment = No Entry

B.  Wizards fall to the Cavs - Well, the Wizz fought hard, but in the end, the little things cost us.  Allowing Lebron to go baseline on us in Game 5.  Unacceptable.  Allowing Damon Jones to get free for an outside shot at the end of Game 6?  Unacceptable.  Let me say this, you put me in the Wizards lineup, and I WILL GET MORE REBOUNDS THAN BRENDAN HAYWOOD.  That guy is softer than Charmin Ultra.

For the '06-'07 season, we'll need some better big men.  Guys capable of jumping up there and grabbing re's, and stopping drives by players like Lebron James.

Enough Said.

C.  Quote of the Week:  U.S. Judge Leonie Brinkema, at the sentencing of terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui.

Afterwards, perhaps smarting from Moussaoui’s “America you lost, I won,” Judge Leonie Brinkema  said, “Well, Mr. Moussaoui, if you look around this courtroom today, every person in this room when this proceeding is over will leave . . . they are free to go anyplace, they want. They can go outside, feel the sun, they smell fresh air.”

But, she said, “You will spend the rest of our life in a super-maximum security facility. In terms of winners and losers, it’s quite clear who won and who lost.”

- Online Journal.

D.  One World Religion:  After playing some football yesterday, we were sitting around shooting the breeze, when we were approached by 2 young men (no more than 19-20, dressed in full Islamic regalia).  They proceeded to invite us to a religious conference in which leaders from various local churches, mosques, were going to meet to discuss "unity."  We were cordial, invited them to come to church, and left it at that.  But this small incident got me thinking...

As every minute of every day passes, we are getting closer and closer to the point where all faiths will seemingly fit comfortably under the umbrella of a one world religion.  "Find whatever religion is good for you, and roll with it" is a phrase that is becoming more and more common place now.

10 years ago, a one world religion seemed far fetched.  Now?  I could actually see it happening before the decade is out.  Scary.  Something to think about.

'Ask Lakshmi Aunty' Updated & NFL/NBA Thoughts...

A.  Lakshmi has posted her latest piece.  Click Here to read.

B.  NFL Draft Thoughts:  1.  The Houston Texans are going to regret not drafting Reggie Bush.  Mario who???  NFL aficionados, think Courtney Brown circa 2000

2.  The Cardinals and Saints (perennial bottom feeders) became playoff contenders as of Saturday night.  3. The legacy of great black QBs continues in Tennessee with: Warren Moon, Steve McNair, and now Vince Young.  4.  The Giants are an improved team.  Sinorice Moss will be a solid #3 receiver, but he won't be as good as his brother Santana.

C.  NBA Playoffs:  The Wizards evened the series with the Cavs yesterday (2-2), and refuse to give into the Lebron James Hype.  This is going to Game 7.

I also find it interesting that Kobe Bryant and the Lakers are 3-1 in their series, while the wheels are coming off of Miami and Shaq (2-2) against the Bulls.  The Bulls are a good, young talented team.  Beat Miami fellas, so we can beat you.  Oh and.....

How can the Spurs be struggling against the no account Kings???  Are you telling me that Ron Artest may actually know what he's talking about?  Ay yi yi....

Welcome to May.  More Soon.  Keep it locked.

BSC Support Staff: HELP WANTED & Improvements...

A.  Interested in helping out at this year's BSC?  Well we are looking for a few good men and women who are interested in running our scoring tables, managing the game clocks, and yes, we will partition the time around so no one person is constantly manning the desks.  Interested?  Fill out the form below and BE SURE to include your e-mail address.  Very much of thangu.

Your Name:
Your Email Address:
Individual / Organization Description:

B.  Tourney Improvements:  Many of you have inquired about what we're improving on for this year, so I thought I'd list them for you:

1.  2 - Day Tourney:  I ran through this in my update several weeks ago, but the bottom line is that a 2-day event should help players be more rested for games  vs. a long drawn out one day marathon event.  This should help cut down on cramping.  It won't eliminate it mind you, but it will help.

2.  No More Back to Back Games:  I know you'll like this one.  We have eliminated back to back games completely.  *Please note this is contingent on all 10 teams attending. Every team will have a minimum of one game's rest before having to play their next game.  This will allow every team to be rested and ready for their next opponent.  You can thank Gburg and Canada for this as their addition has finally allowed us to implement this.

3.  3 minute timer in between games:  A 3 minute running timer will be in effect on the game clock at the end of each game played, and at the end, the game buzzer will sound repeatedly.  This should help to bring more order to the time in between games.  The fact that there are no more back to back games should also help here in that teams won't be slow in getting on to the court.

4.  BSC Staff will be Pre-Selected:  As I mentioned in Part A, we want to make it a point this year to increase the level of organization with pre-selected staff members. Also, we'll do our best to have people manning the various tables that aren't predisposed toward one team or another.

5.  Tourney MVP:  In addition to the 3-point contest trophy & the Championship trophy, there will now be a tourney MVP award given.  This recipient will be voted on by the 10 team captains in attendance.

More to Come.  Welcome Home.

Would You Pick Lettuce this Summer for $50 Per H?

A.  John McCain recently made a statement that baffled me.  He was speaking to members of the AFL-CIO’s Building and Construction Trades Department, when he said the following:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Pay a decent wage,” one audience member shouted.  “I’ve heard that statement before,” Mr. McCain said before threatening to leave.

Afterward, the senator said he offered to cut his speech short “because I wanted to be heard.”   But he took more questions, including a pointed one on his immigration plan.  Mr. McCain responded by saying that immigrants were taking jobs that nobody else wanted.

He offered anybody in the crowd $50 an hour to pick lettuce in Arizona.

Shouts of protest rose from the crowd, with some accepting Mr. McCain’s job offer.

“I’ll take it,” one man said.

Mr. McCain insisted that none of them would do such menial labor for a complete season.

“You can’t do it, my friends,” he said. Some in the crowd said they did not appreciate Mr. McCain’s questioning their work ethic.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I realize that most Americans are not looking to pick cabbage for a living, but McCain went completely overboard with his statement.  $50 per hour?  Are you kidding me?

He was trying to make the point that immigrants are willing to take up the jobs that Americans don't want (which for the most part has been true, I'll give him that), but what kind of example is that.  The line of applicants for lettuce picking would stretch from San Fran to DC.

Dick Morris (NY Post) had a pretty good take on the immigration issue:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Build a wall, but let guest workers in: Right-wingers want a wall on our southern border; they'd accept a guest-worker program if we could regulate our own borders. Latinos would accept a wall if there were a chance for immigrants to do legal work and a path to citizenship. Give both what they want, and lead the country into a grand compromise."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be picking lettuce.

Now, there will be no more crying about, if only we had  more time!  I wish we knew in advance!  We said we would get a specific date out to you early, and we have delivered.  Last year you had 2 & 1/2 months to prepare.  This year, you have roughly double that time in 5 months.  I don't think you heard me:

ALMOST 5 MONTHS

There, that's better.  So take time off from work early.  Get that membership to Bally's.  Organize team practices.  Go save 15% or more on your car insurance by switching to GEICO.  The whole SHABANG.

I will of course have all the details for you including new team additions, rosters, fees, etc, etc, as we get closer and closer to tourney time.  But first, a couple of things:

1.  2 Day Event:  As you've probably noticed, this year's tourney will be a 2 day event.  We realize that this means you have to take an extra day off, but there are a few reasons why we're doing this:

a.  If all goes well, there will be 10 teams at this year's tourney, that's an increase of 2 over last year.  With that many teams, a one day tourney becomes unfeasible.  You would be talking 14-15 hours straight.

b.  Cramps.  That's right.  Cramps.  Last year, we had atleast 3 playoff teams w/players cramping up severely due to the # of games played on the one day event.  So, we've decided to spread the event out a bit over 2 days.  Our goal is such that we want all teams at or near full strength when they play.  Now, this will not eliminate cramping, but it should help reduce it.

Bottom line? GET IN SHAPE

2.  No Late Entries:  Last year, we allowed a late entry to the tourney out of the spirit of trying to include them, as they would have been the only team that missed out.  This year, we cannot allow such leniency.  Send in the fees/rosters on time and you have nothing to worry about.  But after the deadline passes, we have to move on.  It isn't fair to the planning staff or to the other teams in attendance to have to redo schedules b/c a team wasn't ready beforehand.  We want all teams to come out this year, so please be prompt and aware of the deadlines.

3.  Payment = Confirmation:  This year, the # of confirmed teams will only be posted upon receipt of team payments from each squad.  This will help eliminate confusion as to which teams are "officially in."  Having said that, our goal is to get 10 teams to the BSC this year.  The 2 new teams being Canada & Gaithersburg.

4.  August - Future Reference:  It's our intention to continue to hold this tourney in the month of August.  So please keep that in mind for future reference.

------------------------------------------------------------

ATTENTION:
There are to be NO MISUNDERSTANDINGS - PLEASE READ!

Guidelines:  The following was posted last year, but in continues to be relevant this year, please read and UNDERSTAND.

1.  This event has not been sanctioned by any particular church, and it is therefore not an official church event of any kind.

2.  Let me say it again:  This event has not been sanctioned by any particular church, and it is therefore not an official church event of any kind.

Please write that down.  Post in on your fridge.  Tape it to your forehead.

3.  If you are planning on attending the 2006 BSC, and have a prior responsibility such as a music or prayer ministry, make arrangements BEFOREHAND

4.  If you are under your parents, tell them where you're going.

5.  The Tourney will finish with enough time for those who are planning on attending a local meeting, to do so.  Enough said.

------------------------------------------------------------

Lots more to come over the next few months.  But it's official.

Look forward to seeing all of you there.

2006 BSC - Prepping & Here Come the Redskins...

A.  Sup all.  We're still waiting on word regarding a few things before we can announce the official date.  Rest assured, I will have the date for you as soon as we can confirm it.  But as I stated last week, we don't want to jump the gun on this.  Stand by.

B.  Free Agent Bonanza:  Remember the 2 Redskins playoff games last year?  We barely managed any offense against Tampa, and only Moss had a good receiving game against Seattle.  If only we had some viable receiving threats, right?  Well guess what?  Welcome Antwaan Randle El.  Welcome Brandon Lloyd.  You don't have to imagine the damage these 2 will do w/Santana Moss b/c it's now a reality.  Think about this.  The Redskins basically made it to the playoffs with 2 receiving threats last year.  Moss and Cooley.  Now throw in these 2 additions AND have Al Saunders calling the plays?  Just try and stop this:

"Chris, once again, you're hyping these guys up too much.  Who is Randle El??"  Think so?  Well perhaps you watched the Super Bowl this year?  CHECK THIS OUT.

"Who is this Brandon Lloyd" you say?  CHECK THIS OUT.  "Chris, just like in 2000, your Redskins overpaid for 2 ok players."  Actually, these 2 players are in their PRIME, unlike Deion and Bruce Smith in 2000, and as secondary options to Moss, they are perfectly suited.  Expect big things this year.

2006 BSC Pre-lim Info & Titanic - A Conclusion...

A.  Sup all.  It's our plan and intention to announce the official date for the 2006 BSC  next Monday.  Things do come up, so I'm not going to guarantee it, as there are about 5 million 4 hundred and 60 two weddings this summer that we've had to plan around, BUT we are shooting to announce something concrete next Monday.

So get your Red Pens ready to mark those calendars.

B.  Titanic - A Conclusion:  You're probably wondering why I didn't use the typical poll questions of, "Jump into the water and take my chances" or "Stay in bed."  Well, everyone would have voted for the water.  It was too easy.  So I decided to conduct a little experiment.  Blue and White.  The color blue is usually associated with water and/or cold, ie, jumping into the ice cold Atlantic.  White, was a little tougher, but if you think about it, white..sheets..bed....white bed sheets!  Which signifies staying in bed.  BINGO.  Well by looking at the poll results, most of you voted to take your chances in the water.  Egg cellent.   Till our next encounter..

C.  So Long LaVar:  Look in the Websters Dictionary for the term "over-pursuit", and there in bright color, you will find a picture of one LaVar Arrington.  So Long Dude.

New Interview & What if You Had Been on Titanic?

A.  Becky Kurikeshu has been interviewed for The Tonight Show

Be Sure to check it out..

B.  Have you ever wondered what you would have done / how you would have reacted had you been on the Titanic?  "Chris, I'm sitting here at work/school, looking for something interesting to read / imbibe, and you're talking about ghost ships.  Nice."

Hear me out here!  Let's say that you were a Caucasian male / female on board the big liner circa 1912.  Why a Caucasian?  Well, let's face facts.  In my present state (and many of yours), my brown self would have been shoveling coal, or swabbing the lower latrines of the 3rd class decks, but for the point of this little endeavor, let's say that your fellow shipmates were oblivious to this fact.

The Date:  April 14, 1912.  You are sound asleep in your 2nd class cabin, when all of a sudden you feel a noticeable shudder.  Not tremendous, but noticeable.  Your spouse is sleeping soundly beside you, as are your 3 children (all under the age of 10), not even noticing the shudder,   Rough seas perhaps?  At this point in time, you have no concrete reason to venture out of bed, let alone take your family with you.  Don't think 2006, think 1912.  You have absolutely no idea the Titanic will be at the bottom of the Atlantic in a few hours.

Keep that in mind as you think this over!  It's extremely cold on deck in the middle of the night, and you have 3 small children to worry about getting up there.  You are on board a luxury liner that has been hailed as "unsinkable, and on it's maiden voyage no less.  The ship is equipped with state of the art water tight doors.  It's captain is arguably the best in the liner fleet AND most importantly, you are aware of all these facts.  Now honestly ask yourself, what would you have done?  Click Here and decide.

A.  Mucho Congrats to my cousin Benj (IPF Webmaster) and his wife Sonia on the birth of their first child yesterday evening.  Andrew Joseph Arthungal.  Welcome to the world and let me be the first to give you some advice.  I would recommend against  hanging Ted Kennedy posters in your room.  That's a big no no.

B.  True to his word, The Phantom has started his 'The Phantom Says' thread on the 'Dear IPF Columnist(s) & Webmaster(s)' forum.  The Ghost Who Walks has also stated (in his Feb 11th e-mail) that he will be posting on Monday's only, as that day is the only time he can manage away from his many duties.  It has also been mentioned that the Phantom's right hand man, Guran, has expressed interest in posting on the MB as well.  Welcome.  Enjoy.

C.  Tourney 2005 Section Complete:  The 2005 BSC section at IPF is now officially complete with the addition of the 2005 BSC Recap, complete with box scores from the regular/postseason games, playoff seedings and more.  Check it out.

Lakshmi Aunty Returns & Super Bowl XL Recap.....

A.  After a hiatus, Lakshmi Aunty has returned.  Be sure to check out her latest piece.

B.  Super Bowl Recap - Steelers 21  Seahawks 10:  Well the Bus made his last stop Detroit eh?  Congrats to him and Bill Cowher for finally winning the big one.  Even I have to admit that this organization has a lot of class.

Couple of thoughts......

1.  Matt Hasselbeck was the better of the 2 QB's playing in this game.  2.  Randle El needs to be given serious consideration by the Skins.  3.  The commercials were boring.  4.  Didn't even watch half time.  See Point #3.  5.  Last, but not least, The whole event should be a lot more exciting next year, when the Washington Redskins bring the hardware home!

Our Search for The Ghost Who Walks

Let me involve you in a mystery.  Over the past 5 years, a certain masked man has graced this website, and become a part of IPF lore.  But have you ever wondered just who this mask man is?  Well, we're about to answer that question for you.

Last summer, unbeknownst to many, I authorized the diversion of IPF funds to our Special Operations Division.  The SOs, as we call them, were given a mission directly by me:  "Find the Ghost Who Walks.  Find THE PHANTOM."

..And so, the journey began....deep in the jungles of Bengalla.  After almost 4 months of painstaking search and intel operations, our SOs had come up with nothing.  It was a stressful time as our IPF shareholders were becoming nervous at our growing expenditures.  I personally had to dissuade many a fear in the early hours of many mornings.  Just when it seemed like we would never find him, PAYDIRT.  One SO on standard recon patrol, snapped the following photo:

Just a random hooded figure you say?  Using classified IPF sensor technology, we were able to take......a closer look:

We were thrilled.  This was what we believed to be the very first sighting of the masked legend in his domain.  But, we needed more concrete evidence to make it official.  We didn't have to wait long...

As it turns out, it wasn't a mere stroke of luck that our intel forces had this Phantom sighting.  He had allowed himself to be seen.  He knew we were watching him all along, and he knew why.  Soon, he made contact:

Attached with this letter, was a return address, which I replied to and made the following request: Consider joining the IPF Syndicate.  I received a reply only days later in the form of a journal which the Phantom apparently wanted me, and therefore you all, to see:

On the second page of the note the Phantom sent me, he mentioned a specific date: February, 11th 2006.  Another submission perhaps?  We will wait and see.....

New BSC Media Clips & Here Comes the Bus....

A.  BSC Clips 8, 9 & 10 have been posted.  Be sure to check them out, especially the Hype Clip pulled from the lost archives of last year's tourney.  Must see.

B.  Here comes Super Bowl XL:  Extra Large.  Extra Large.  Well, we're down to 2 teams, Bill Cowher's Pittsburgh Steelers vs MIke Holmgren's Seattle SeaHawks.  Take a wild guess as to who I'm rooting for.  That's right.  I hope the Bus runs up and down the field over Shawn Alexander and the Hawks.

I've always liked Pittsburgh's coach, Bill Cowher, and his in your face coaching style.  I'll be rooting for him to win his first championship.

Skins fans, the Seattle game just brings home once again what a golden opportunity we lost in not beating the SeaHawks, after we knocked Alexander from the game.  He responded this week against a good defense with 130+ yards and 2 TDs.

Box Score:  Pittsburgh 24  Seattle  17

C.  Something Special on the Horizon:  Ladies and Gentlemen, be sure to check out IPF next Monday, the 30th.  We've got something special to commemorate 5 years on the web.  Don't miss out.  Much Love.

The Quest May Have Ended in Seattle.....

A.  Seattle 20  Washington 10:  ....But the journey has just begun.  First, Seattle.  This game was a very winnable one for the Skins, on the road against the #1 seed in the NFC.  But if you cause 3 turnovers, knock the league MVP out of the game early in the first quarter, and still can't win, then you don't deserve it.  Plain and simple.

We had our shots, but the offense just couldn't get going early.  We missed a critical field goal, and didn't stop Matt Hasselbeck when we had to.  Give him credit.

It's disappointing for sure, but if you look at where this franchise has been over the last 13 years, you cannot deny that this year was a big stepping stone for this team.  Most of the prognosticators had picked the Skins to go 4-12, 5-11 this year.  They said Joe Gibbs had lost his touch, and that these were the same ol' Skins.

Well we proved a lot of people wrong

We posted a winning record, 10-6.  We posted a 5-1 division record, sweeping the Cowboys, Eagles, and breaking even with the Giants.  We improved offensively, and the defense remained solid throughout the year.

We actually made it to the playoffs and won a game, which is more than I can say for the Eagles, Giants and Cowboys.  We didn't lose at home in the playoffs like the Giants and Bears did.  We won a road playoff game in a tough environment.  It's a positive step forward.

Looking to the 2006 season, this team has a lot of holes to fill.  I believe we need no less than 2 quality wide receivers,

TAYLOR JACOBS COULDN'T CATCH A COLD

2 defensive ends, and 1-2 more quality linemen.  Brunell had a good year, but late in the Seattle game, I started to get the feeling that he was too old to make the plays we needed down the stretch.  So we shall see.  In any case, I don't see the Skins owner being cheap in meeting these needs for the upcoming season.

Finally, let me say this.  Even if you despise the Redskins, you can't deny that the team is headed in the right direction under Joe Gibbs.  Look at where this team was just 2 years ago, and look at where it is now.  Enough said.

B.  Super Bowl Prediction:  As far as the Super Bowl goes, I'm rooting for Carolina.  They beat up on 2 teams that I don't like, the Giants and the Bears.  But the biggest story of this postseason is the collapse of the Colts.  Everyone was predicting this team to go undefeated.  Who can stop that offense?  Who can stop that defense.  Well guess what?  The Steelers stopped them cold and Peyton Manning can't win big games.  Yes, Brady and the Patriots lost, but they have 3 pieces of hardware of their fingers.  Manning doesn't have any

C.  Dodge Challenger:  Shout out to IPF Webmaster Benj for that New Rides update.  After looking at some of the cars, I found this diamond.  Perfect blend of the old and new.  If they actually produce this car, they'd be advised to keep it as close to the concept as possible.  Very nice.
