2007 Is In the Books...

A.  I seem to say this every year, but its so true.  How is it already a new year?  We're getting old people.  Naaa, not just yet.  But it really is amazing how time seems to be passing right before our eyes.  In the almost 7 years that IPF has been in existence you've never known me to get preachy, and I'm not about to start now, but I will say this.  In 2008, make a difference.  Just do it.  End of Speech.

B.  Benazir Bhutto:  Tragic loss for democracy.  Very shocking.  She knew her life was in danger going back to her homeland, yet she continued pushing for democracy.  She wasn't perfect by any means, but she showed a lot of courage in her last days, and that's worth remembering.

C.  Redskins 27  Cowboys 6:  Very nice victory.  I know Cowboys fans are saying, "well we didn't care about this game."  That's cool.  Try and rush for more than one yard next time.  Strong.  Todd Collins is something else eh?  Managing the game so well.  Portis and Santana are really stepping up big playing for their fallen teammate.  I haven't even gotten to the defense.  Very solid performance fellas.

Jon, there is no way the Washington Redskins can be denied entry into the top 10 list now.  You want a better argument, here it is:

1.  Sean Taylor:  No team in NFL history has had to deal with the loss of a player in the midst of a season.  To top that, no team has ever lost arguably its best overall player in such a fashion.  To top it off, the man was violently murdered.  It wasn't an accident, plane crash, etc.  Very traumatic for the team.  Rallying from that kind of loss is something to be commended.  I credit Joe Gibbs.

2.  Injuries:  The Redskins lost the entire right side of their O-line early on.  Randy Thomas, Jon Jansen.  Also, they lost critical defensive players, the before mentioned Sean Taylor, as well as Carlos Rogers.

3.  5-7:  This team rallied from a 5-7 record to win out and make the playoffs.  That's 4 straight games, 2 of which were on the road.  Think about how many teams tried to pull that off, but couldn't get it done.

4.  NFC Who?:  Name another team in the NFC that the Skins can't hang with?  The Skins have played in Green Bay, and in Dallas, and gone toe to toe with both those teams.  Yes, we lost both times, but we were in both games till the very last drive.

If you look at our box scores of every game (except against New England), we have been in every single game.  That shows this is a competitive team that can play with anyone.  Can you honestly tell me that Seattle scares anyone?  Giants?  Beat them.  Tampa?  Played them close in their place.  This year, it's ours for the taking.

Merry Christmas to All

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf of the IPF Syndicate, we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas.  Now go buy me a present.  :)--

B.  2nd Annual Rowlett Raiders Football Tourney:  Shout out to Dallas Old Skool.  It's that WOO WOOOOOO.  Watch out for us in 2008.  Also shout out to the organizer of this event, Minu, for a good time.

C.  Redskins 32 Vikings 21:  I'm impressed with the way this team is playing right now.  The passing of #21 seems to have galvanized the Redskins into action.  Still, big game this weekend against Dallas.  Yes, they'll probably rest starters with the #1 seed locked up, but it's still a Skins-Cowboys game.  I have some additional things to say about the Seattle Ducks, excuse me, Seahawks, but I'll save it for next week.

Jon, after what the Skins have been through this season, and still to be on the brink of the playoffs, we deserve a spot on the top ten list.  Where is the decency?

Sherin Alexander (Texas)

Shout out to everyone that participated.

Much Love.

C.  Redskins 22  Giants 10:  Good, solid win.  Payback for the collapse against the Giants back in Week 3.  I've ripped Clinton Portis in the past, but I have to give the man props for his performance yesterday.  Top Notch.  The man can block.  One game at a time, and we'll see.

Also, New England, I noticed you guys stopped wearing the #21 on your helmets.  Shows absolutely no class.  We'll remember that.

Donation Effort to The Orphanage Project

A.  Part of the mission of this website is to make a difference in people's lives in any way that we can.  Based on the partial donation of proceeds from the sale of 2007 BSC T-shirts, IPF will be sending $418.00 to The Orphanage Project.  We realize this isn't exactly going to solve world hunger, but it's a start.  This is out first attempt at such an endeavor.  In the future we want to do even better.

Once again, thank you to everyone that helped us get this done.  These funds are really going to make a difference for orphans in need.

B.  Contact Forms Restored:  Ladies and Gents, our contact forms are back up, please feel free to submit birthdays, remembrance testimonials, or just drop us a line.

CONTACT FORMS RESTORED

C.  Buffalo 17  Redskins 16:  Win this one for Sean, that's all I asked from the Skins yesterday, and they didn't deliver.  I will not bring myself to blame Coach Gibbs on the 2 time-outs fiasco, but with all the coaches we have on this staff, if he didn't know that rule, somebody should have told him after the first time out, that you can't call another.  Even still, Buffalo's kicker is pretty good, and he probably would have made it.  That didn't decide the game.  Our O-line is trash.  Very disgusted after watching this game.

As #21 is laid to rest today, I can only say that his loss is going to be felt for years to come.  Washington Redskins fan for life.

Sean Taylor (#21) 1983 - 2007

Sean Taylor.  I'm sorry we won't get the chance to see you play again.  Just 24, and beginning to come into your own.  You could see how much he had grown in terms of a person, since his arrival back in 2004.  His interviews/press conferences told the tale.  He had become a man, after a few years at Redskins Park.

Greg Williams - Assistant Head Coach Defense gave a very poignant description of Sean Taylor over at Redskins.com TV.  I'm really glad that Joe Gibbs is the coach right now.  He's the only man that can really rally/bring this team together.  In his press conference today, Coach Gibbs said that Sean had developed a greater walk with the Lord as time had passed, so that's encouraging.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sean Taylor was the hardest hitter the Redskins ever had, and had an uncanny knack for finding the ball.  He was one our best players period, and had just begun to scratch the surface of his potential.

Here are a few standout memories of #21

1.  2005:  Running through Patrick Crayton (Dallas), sealing a huge victory for us (which is my favorite memory of #21).  See below:

2.  2005:  Running back that INT for a TD against the Eagles which sealed the game, and vaulted us into the playoffs.

3.  2005:  Running back that INT against Tampa Bay in the playoffs which basically won that game.

4.  2006:  Running back that blocked field goal against Dallas at the end of the game, allowing us to get into field goal range, winning that game.

5.  2007:  He was headed for his greatest season ever, and was clearly the most feared hitter in the league.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a huge loss for the Washington Redskins organization, and its fans.  But as a believer in Jesus Christ, there is something else to take from this.  Our time on this Earth is finite.  We all know this, but we don't know it.  Bullets don't discriminate on who you are.  I also think I'm being hypocritical here b/c had this not been a "celebrity", I wouldn't be writing about his death, while 150 men of similar description died in DC last year.  I think that's wrong.

In conclusion, it was an honor watching #21 play this game, for the team I grew up rooting for.  We may never see your like again.  RIP Sean Taylor.

New BSC Media & Final Week for 2007 BSC T-shirts...

**Before I get into the meat and potatoes, I just want to take this time to thank all of you that continue to visit this website, participate, and support us.  It means a lot to the staff here at IPF.  100% Original.  Much Love.**

A.  Sup all.  Our second batch of clips from the 2007 BSC have been released!

B.  Final Chance to Purchase a 2007 BSC T-shirt:  This is the final week to order one of our few remaining 2007 BSC T-shirts.  I'll have a full update for you on our donation effort to The Orphanage Project (via these T-shirts sales) next Monday.

C.  Tampa Bay 19  Redskins 13:  6 turnovers.  When you commit that many mistakes, you don't deserve to win the game.  That's a basic tenet in sports.  What bothers me though, is that Portis and Moss, after having some big games as of late, then proceed to choke.  We've paid too much for players that are content being millionaires, and not dedicated soldiers.  If you cough up the ball, to the bench you go.

Still, I will not yield.  We aren't done yet.

Also, please take note of the following, b/c you won't hear me say anything like this again.  Much respect to the Philadelphia Eagles for having the Pats on the ropes.  They were 24 pt underdogs going in and almost pulled off the upset of the century.

New Interview & More...

A.  Ben Kurian has been interviewed for The Tonight Show.  Be sure to check it out.

B.  Cowboys 28  Redskins 23:  First off let me say that a loss is a loss.  On behalf of Skins fans, I'm going to take this loss like a man.  Just know this Cowboys fans, our best defensive player Sean Taylor, wasn't playing in this game, and you have to make the assumption that had he been in the game, T.O wouldn't have caught 4 TD passes.  He may have caught 2-3, but not 4 with Taylor (who is second in the league with 5 INTS) in the lineup.  Think about that, it makes sense.

Having said that, there are no moral victories in the NFL.  I am however, encouraged that we didn't go down without a fight.  Season isn't over, there are plenty of games to play, keep in mind that we've beaten Detroit and Arizona who we'll be fighting for the wild card spots.  Dallas, you barely beat us in your place, we'll see you at Fedex.

Congratulations to Greg & Susan!

A.  IPF would like to send out a big congrats to our very own staff writers, Greg & Susan Smith on their wedding this past weekend.  Much Love.

B.  Eagles 33  Redskins 25:  I remain defiant.  We'll have to go the Wild Card Route, but we will still make the dance.  Having said all that, the way Westbrook ran up and down the field on us almost untouched is flat out embarrassing.

This loss is worse than that Pats game b/c we were never in that one.  When you lose a winnable game at home, it will come back to haunt you.  Still, I remain defiant.

2007 BSC T-shirts Are Back!

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, our 2nd batch of t-shirts from the 2007 BSC are now available.  The first batch sold out, and we just got a fresh batch in.

I'd also like to announce that IPF will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these t-shirts to The Orphanage Project, which is headed by Sungeeta Jain.  You're already aware of this important project through our interview several months ago, and we feel that it's a very worthwhile cause.  We appreciate your support.

All transactions are secure and our account has been verified by PayPal.

T-shirts are $17 (includes shipping, handling & taxes)

Select Your Size

B.  Redskins 23  Jets 20:  Every game is a must win at this point, and coming away with this one will be very important come playoff time.  At the midway point of the season, the Redskins are an average team.  We can beat the teams we're supposed to beat, but we can't run with the big boys.....yet.

Speaking of which, we should beat Philly handily this Sunday as that team is a shell of what it once was.  If we can't beat them at home then we really have some issues.

Wedding Pics & More....

A.  35 pics from the wedding of Christian & (IPF's own) Crystal Ramirez have been posted.  Once again, big congrats on behalf of the Syndicate.

B.  Patriots 52  Redskins 7:  There really isn't a whole lot to say here, but I'll proceed.  100% butt whooping, and its funny b/c this doesn't hurt as bad as the Giants/Packers losses.  Don't get me wrong, this loss hurts, but we were never in this game.  We should have legitimately beaten the Giants/Packers, and we let them off the HOOK!!  So if you want to crown em....!

I'll say it again, I have never seen as complete an NFL team, as these 2007 New England Patriots.  Do I appreciate their running up the score the way the did?  No.  But you know what, it's football, only the strong survive.  The Redskins should have made it more of a game.  The Pats toughest test comes this Sunday against the Colts.  Should they win that game, they will go undefeated.

Having said that, let's just say that I'll be rooting for the Colts this Sunday.

Also, I'd just like to say "Your Welcome" to the NY Giants for us single handedly turning around their season.

Finally, its come to my attention that there are those who don't enjoy my updates about my Washington Redskins or pro football in general.  To these fine people, please visit the following website.  I do hope you find what you're looking for.

New Interview & More....

A.  After a few months hiatus, The Tonight Show is back!  Elizabeth Kuruvilla has been interviewed.  Be sure to check it out.

B.  Redskins 21  Cardinals 19:  I'm not going to play the "A win is a win is a win" card here.  The Skins should have lost this game.  The Joe Gibbs teams of the 80s/90s were famous for their second half adjustments and performance.  This time around it almost seems like the team expects to win games by playing one half of football.

I know we have issues on our line, but Clinton Portis is running scurred.  He has zero explosion coming off the line.  Betts needs more carries.  Also, is there someone named Moss on our team?  Will he stand up please?

Now I'm as die hard a Washington Redskins fan as you're going to find, but I have to be a realist this week.  In my 20 years of watching pro football, I can't remember a team tearing the league up like the 2007 New England Patriots.  It's not even fair anymore.  I can actually see this team going undefeated.  Can we beat them?  Yes.  But anything less than a perfect game will result in a loss.

Finally, to my esteemed colleague Jon Flores, all I have to say is, we'll see you December 6th.  Don't forget to tell Cedric Benson to keep up the good work.

2007 BSC Media Clips Begin!

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, drumroll please.  Our release of the 2007 BSC clips begins today!  We'll be releasing a minimum of 2 clips per month, leading all the way up to the 2008 BSC!  Enjoy....

B.  Packers 17  Redskins 14:  Tough loss.  The Skins had a chance to win in a very hostile environment.  A real good chance, and we let it slip away.  My hat is off to the defense, we had about 4-5 potential picks in this game, and stopped the Packers when we needed to.  Our offense is what let us down, although Campbell played fine.

What is wrong with Santana Moss?  If you're injured, then don't play!  His fumble was the turning point, and cost us the game.  Moss and Portis have been disappointments thus far, this season.  I'll leave you with one question.

How is it that the New England Patriots make the game seem so simple?

C.  Quotes to Remember:  "Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks." - Unknown

I Hereby Nominate Mike Sellers for President

A.  Redskins 34  Lions 3:  Mike who?  This was a game the Skins should have won, and they did.  I know the Lions have this great passing offense and all, but in the back of my mind I'm like, it's still the Lions.  Having said that, it was nice to see the team perform well in all aspects of the game.  Did anyone else have to rub their eyes to make sure Carlos Rogers actually got an interception??

Jason Campbell played his best game yet, looked very sharp, and finally, the team is getting the ball in the hands of Mike "Knock Somebody Out" Sellers.

I'd like to dedicate this update to the valiant Buffalo Bills.  This is a franchise that can never seem to catch a break.  There is no way an opposing team should win after giving you 6 turnovers.

B.  Quotes to Remember:  "Courage is not limited to the battlefield or the Indianapolis 500 or bravely catching a thief in your house. The real tests of courage are much quieter. BSC T-shirts SOLD OUT!

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, our 2007 BSC T-shirts are sold out!  Much appreciation for everyone that bought 1+.  I'll be ordering more shortly, and we'll re-open shop accordingly.  The banner on the Message Board will continue to run and you can make back-orders by clicking there.  Much Love.

B.  IPF Contact Forms:  The Syndicate has informed me they are working on our contact forms.  Routine Maintenance.  You are now free to move about the country.

C.  NFL - Week 4 Recap:  My hat is off to Brett Favre.  This just goes to show you how important it is to win a Super Bowl.  Records will fall, just ask Dan Marino, but a Super Bowl win can never be taken away.  The records are icing on the cake.

As much is pains me to say this, the team from the state of Texas, south of Houston, is the best team in the NFC thus far.  The only other team that's looked more dominant are the eventual 2007-2008 Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.

The Skins being 2-1 at this point in the season actually isn't so bad now that I think about it.  Who would have put the Lions at 3-1 right now?  The Packers?  The Texans? On any given Sunday, any team can win.  Scrap it out, get a win, and take them as they come.  We'll see....

The Redskins Report..

A.  Giants 24  Redskins 17:  This loss was very hard to swallow.  I had the misfortune of being at this game and witnessing the travesty.  We were up 17-3, crowd was bumping, things were looking good, and then boom, the Giants score 21 unanswered points.  It was as if the team fell asleep in the 2nd half

I'm still predicting a 10-6 finish for the Skins, and a playoff berth.  I continue to be an unabashed Washington Redskins fan.  Burgundy and Gold raise up!

Jon, I was rooting for your Bears against the Cowboys...@#$@.

Monday, August 27, 2007 - Chung Lao: LATE NIGHT SPECIAL

Full BSC Tournament Recap - Congrats to the 2007 BSC Champion Philly Ballazz, Pics On the Way...

A.  Well the 5th annual BSC is in the books.  The Philly Ballazz captured their 3rd title, and first since 2004, thus cementing their status as the first BSC dynasty.  I also have to give much respect to Chicago.  They came undermanned, with a minimal bench, and almost pulled off the 3-peat.

Overall I think the tourney went fine.  There were injuries, heated competition, but in the end, the event succeeded.  As always, there is room for improvement, and we'll be on top of it.

Best Game of 2007.  Philly-Texas: Playoffs.

**Hundreds of pictures are coming in.  Should have them up later in the week.  Keep it locked.

Shout outs:  I want to take this time to shout out the following people.  Without their help, this event could not have happened.  Crystal George, Binu Varughese, Vinod Varghese, Danny Lopez, Julie Mathew, Soumini John, Stanley John, Sam John, Ricardo Avendano, Judah Asomugha, Josh Kurikeshu, Greg Smith, and to anyone I missed, many thanks for your support.

2007 BSC Tournament MVP: Binu Chacko

2007 BSC Joe Rosado 3-Point Champion: Tyson Titus

2007 BSC Fan Challenge Winner: Randy Singh

2007 BSC All-Stars: Justin Thomas, Tyson Titus, Binu Varughese, Jeremy Flores, Joe Hamgeri & Alvin Rathinam

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Every year, the power rankings change.  Here you have them for 2007.

Philly:  Philly re-established themselves in 2007 as the team to beat.  They are the first dynasty in the history of this tournament.  Binu Chacko, the 2007 BSC MVP played lights out in the 2nd round matchup against Texas, making 2 clutch free throws, without which, they would have lost the game.  They got overall solid play from Blesson Chacko, Rocky Singh and Ricky Roy to help propel them to their 3rd title.

1

Chicago:  Once again, major props to Chicago.  They came undermanned, but seemed to will themselves back into the final.  The Hamgeri's continue to be the cause of great annoyance to the rest of the BSC with their excellent play.  :)  I think its a major accomplishment that this particular team made it as far as they did in 2007.

2

Texas:  Texas had outstanding play from Kevin Flores this year, and were within a hair of making the championship game.  Anybody that sleeps on this team in 2008 is making a major, major mistake.  This was a championship caliber team.

3

DC:  This team is always going to put up a fight.  DC took its best record since 2002 (4-1) into the playoffs and received a very high seed, the #2 spot..  Still, they weren't able to capitalize on that and finally make it happen.

4

Strong Island:  Strong Island started out 3-0, and made it to the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row.  The addition of Sijin helped their inside game, but it wasn't enough to overcome Chicago.

5

Gburg:  How about some R-E-S-P-E-C-T?  That's right, Gburg made the playoffs!  The addition of Iffy and Ikay made this team in every game it played (except for the Texas game).  They actually pushed Philly/DC and Strong Island to the brink.  Last year, this team was in the 8th place spot.  The only place to go is up!

6

Toronto:  Shout out to Toronto for making the long trip.  They had a lot of injuries this year, which affected their play.  It was a tough road for sure, but we look forward to seeing you guys in 2008.

7

Brooklyn:  This was not a banner year for Brooklyn's Finest.  Props for coming out and putting up a fight, but this team simply didn't have the bench to be effective.

8

2008 BSC - First look:  I look for Chicago and Texas (especially so) to return with some fire and attempt to beat Philly.  Most of all though, I look for the guys to come together and have a good time.

In conclusion ladies and gents, it's our intention, God Willing, to continue these tournaments in the years to come.  Thanks for supporting us in 2007

2007 BSC Preview - Part 2:  Pre- Game Kickoff!

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, are you Hyped?  I said ARE YOU HYPED??  I don't think you heard me:

ARE YOU HYPED??

This will be the most competitive BSC yet in terms of the talent.  Every squad is bringing their best.  No team is undermanned, should be great to watch.

Will Chicago cement their dynasty with a 3-peat?  Will Philly re-establish theirs?  Will DC finally put it together?  How will Texas & Brooklyn fare with fully loaded squads?  Will Strong Island build on the strides they made last year?  How will Toronto and Gburg adjust going into their 2nd year?  All these questions and more will be answered by weeks end!

Everything you need to know about this year's BSC is right here.

We really appreciate the support, and look forward to working with you in the future!

B.  New to the 2007 BSC:  Every year, our goal is to make this year's tourney better than the one before it.  As such, here is how 2007 has improved over 2006:

1.  All-Star Game:  This game will take place at the end of the semifinal round of the playoffs, and before the championship game.  Each team will send 2 players to represent them.

There will be 2 divisions, East/West.  The Eastern teams are Philly, DC, Brooklyn, Strong Island.  The Western teams are Chicago, Texas, Toronto, Gburg.

The 8 winning players will also receive trophies.

2.  4 Regular Season Games on Friday:  By playing 4 games on Friday instead of the usual 3, we're allowing teams to be fresher for Saturday's playoff run.

3.  4 Players in 3 - Point Contest:  This year, the top 4 players will face each other at half-time of the championship game.  Last year it was only the top 2.

Don't Live a Meaningless Life...

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, those of you that have read this site since 2001 know that I'm not an inspirational writer.  We have some excellent ones here at IPF, but I don't have that gift.  Having said that, I hope our work here over the last 6+ years has at least earned your ear for a few seconds, while I attempt to write what's on my mind.

We have to make more of a difference as young people.

Myself foremost.  In our short time on this earth we have an obligation.  We could walk out the door tomorrow, and drop dead.  Then what?  The only things that will have mattered will be our personal walk with God, and what we've done for him.

In addition, I know many of you are suffering, going through difficult times, as well as struggling with issues that no one has a clue about.  Many of you have suffered losses in your family, and it's like no one seems to care, or care quite enough.  The only person that can answer your questions, and give you peace, is Christ.  Everyone else in this world will let you down, but HE NEVER WILL.

"...I am with you always, even until the end of the world.  Amen." (Mt. 28:20)

I've never been a preachy person, but there are certain times where I feel like I have to share certain things.  I thank you for lending your ears...

Some Advice...

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Lao, and I have some advice for myself and all of you out there in the great beyond.  It is as follows:

1.  We're all hypocrites.  2.  The more we know, the more we realize how little we really know.  3.  Don't be so quick to judge, b/c in all likelihood you're about to be.  4.  When in doubt, don't be afraid to get on your knees and pray.

B.  Nathaniel Blessan Samuel:  On behalf of the IPF Syndicate we want to congratulate Benson & Mercy Samuel on the birth of their firstborn last week.

The Greatest Game (Thus Far) in BSC History

A.  This game was hands down, the greatest in the history of the BSC.  For those of you that were there, you know what I'm talking about.  Extremely intense.  Overtime thriller.  Both teams wanting badly to beat the other.  An instant classic.  So without further adieu, here it is, deserving to be put up as the only clip for today.

Will have the other 3 clips for the month up next Monday.  You know how we do...

B.  IPF Sends Congrats:  On behalf of the IPF Staff, we'd like to send congrats out to the following couples on their recent weddings, Jomy & Rajee Joseph...

.....as well as Joel & Teena John.  Much Love.

C.  Quotes to Remember:  "Many a man preaches Christ but gets in front of him by the multiplicity of his own works. It will be your ruin if you do! Christ can do without your works, what he wants is you. Yet if he really has you he will have all your works - It is possible to be so active in the service of Christ as to forget to love him."  - P. T. Forsyth

New Interview & Much More...

A.  Pasha Bains, one of the top collegiate basketball players in Canada, has been interviewed for The Tonight Show.  Be sure to check it out....

B.  The War:  Going into Iraq was a mistake, I think most people are in agreement on this.  That's completely justifiable, and a position I now support.  However cutting and running, with a full troop withdrawal, as Congress is proposing, is a huge mistake.

Without a strong U.S. military presence Iraq would descend into a bloodbath the likes of which the world hasn't seen in recent times.  Iran would take advantage of the situation and influence Iraq's foreign policy via it's Shiite populations.

The most important factor is:  Our troop withdrawal would be seen as a surrender by our enemies.  America would be viewed as weak and unable to finish what it starts.  I could see multiple attacks on this nation.

The whole world is watching how the United States handles this situation.  If we can somehow help democracy take root in Iraq, we will have helped institute one of the greatest triumphs in the history of the middle east.  We will also have gained back the moral authority it cost the U.S. to go into Iraq.

C.  Redskins Report: 2007 Draft:  Laron Landry was clearly the best defensive player available in this year's draft.  Yes, I would have preferred a defensive end or a corner, but no player in this draft (at those positions), was worthy of using the 6th pick on.  They were just average.  Landry has the potential to be outstanding.

I really like the tandem of Landry/Taylor.  Their both vicious hitters.  Landry should help us with some of our secondary problems, as well as strike fear into anyone going across the middle.  He should also get us some much needed turnovers.  Don't forget now, the 2006 Skins caused the fewest turnovers in the history of the NFL.  Did you hear what I just said?  THE 40+ YEAR HISTORY OF THE NFL

I'm still concerned about our lack of d-line/pass rush.  Coach, if you're reading this, sign me to a contract, I'll get you more sacks than our d-line....Renaldo Wynn?  WHAT?

Lastly, as much as it pains me to say this, the New England Patriots will be the Super Bowl champs in 2007.  With average receivers, the team made it to the AFC championship game, and came within a hair of reaching the Super Bowl.  Now they get Randy Moss, along with Dante Stallworth and Wes Welker..

That's a wrap ladies and gentlemen.

D.  Wizards:  I'd also like to send a shout out to my Washington Wizards.  It was a season that started out with so much promise (#1 seed in the East at one point), only to have it end with injuries to Caron Butler and Gilbert Arenas.  Does Arenas need to re-assess his leadership after the team faltered following the All-Star break?  Yes.

But, the Wizards have become a perennial playoff team.  I know I speak for Washington when I say this isn't something we take for granted.  Yes the Cavs are wiping the floor with us, but at least the severely undermanned Wizards are going out swinging...that's all I can ask from them at this point.

E.  Quotes to Remember:  "And in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It is the life in your years." – Abraham Lincoln

The Tragedy at V-Tech - Honoring a Victim...

A.  Wow, how to begin....

What struck me the most about this massacre was the fact that it could have happened anywhere.  Can you imagine sitting in a class, worrying about this that and the other, when suddenly a gunman bursts in and starts firing??  Most likely, we wouldn't have time to react, and we'd have been killed...

I'd have to agree with Jon Flores in that the story that affected me the most was that of Professor Liviu Librescu, a man who had survived the Holocaust no less, only to be gunned down while willingly using his body as a shield to help his students escape.  If you want to see a hero, you need look no further.  Please take a moment and read a summary of his life and his brave actions last Monday:

"Liviu Librescu was born in 1930 to a Jewish family in the city of Ploieşti, Romania. After Romania allied with Nazi Germany in World War II, his father was deported by the Nazis. Liviu as a boy was interned at a labor camp in Transnistria and later, along with his family and thousands of other Jews, was deported to a ghetto in the city of Focşani. Speaking to Israeli Channel 10 TV the day after the massacre, his wife Marlena, who is also a Holocaust survivor, said, "We were in Romania during the Second World War, and we were Jews there among the Germans, and among the anti-Semitic Romanians."

Liviu Librescu survived the Holocaust and was repatriated to communist Romania where he became an accomplished scientist. Librescu studied Aerospace Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, graduating in 1952 and continuing with a master degree at the same university. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics in 1969 at the Academia de Ştiinţe din România.

From 1953 to 1975, he worked as a researcher at Bucharest Institute of Applied Mechanics, and later at Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Aerospace Constructions of Academy of Science of Romania. His career stymied in the 1970s because he refused to swear allegiance to the Communist Party of Romania and was forced out of academia there for his Israeli sympathies. When Librescu requested permission to emigrate to Israel, he was fired from his job. After years of government refusal, Prime Minister of Israel Menachem Begin personally intervened to get the Librescu family an emigration permit by directly asking President of Romania Nicolae Ceauşescu to let them go. They moved to Israel in 1978. From 1979 to 1986 Librescu was Professor of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering at Tel-Aviv University and taught at Haifa Technion. In 1985, he left on sabbatical for the United States, where he served as Professor at Virginia Tech until his death. He served as a member on the editorial board of seven scientific journals and was invited as a guest editor of special issues of five other journals. According to his wife, no other Virginia Tech professor has ever published more articles than Librescu.

Librescu is survived by his wife, Marlena, and his sons Joseph and Arieh."

"At age 76, Librescu was among the thirty-two people who were murdered in the Virginia Tech massacre on April 16, 2007. He was killed by a Virginia Tech student (Seung-hui Cho) during a class in Room 204 of the Norris Hall Engineering Building. Librescu held the door of his classroom shut while Cho was attempting to enter it; although he was shot through the door, he was able to prevent the gunman from entering the classroom until most of his students had escaped through the windows. He was struck by five bullets.

A number of Librescu's students have called him a hero because of his actions, with one student, Asael Arad, saying that all the professor's students "lived because of him". Another student, Caroline Merrey, said she and about 20 other students scrambled through the windows as Librescu shouted for them to hurry; she said she felt sure his actions helped save lives. Librescu's son, Joe, said he had received e-mails from several students who said he had saved their lives and regarded him as a hero whilst many newspapers also reported him as the hero of the massacre. He was killed on Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), a holiday observed in Israel and in other countries around the world. On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 18, Librescu received an American funeral service at an Orthodox funeral home in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York, where his body was flown from Virginia, escorted by his wife.

On April 20, he was interred in Israel, where his son Arieh lives, in accordance with his family's wishes. At the university, his picture was placed on a table and a candle was lit. People laid flowers nearby. On April 18, 2007 U.S. President George Bush honored Librescu at a memorial service held at the US Holocaust Museum to a crowd that included many Holocaust survivors: "That day we saw horror, but we also saw quiet acts of courage. We saw this courage in a teacher named Liviu Librescu. With the gunman set to enter his class, this brave professor blocked the door with his body while his students fled to safety. On the Day of Remembrance, this Holocaust survivor gave his own life so that others may live. And this morning we honor his memory and we take strength from his example."

We say to ourselves, well, we'll have time to make things right.  We may never get that chance.  Just something to think about....

Lastly, any questions, please e-mail me directly at chunglao@hotmail.com.  We look forward to seeing you all this year for another successful tournament.  Thanks again.

New BSC Media, MS Awareness & More...

A.  Our next batch of clips from The 2006 BSC are available for download.

B.  MS Awareness:  In continuing with our policy of posting ways in which we can make a difference, please check out the following message on MS Awareness:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Friends,

The week of March 5th starts the week of MS Awareness. As many of you may know, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in January of 2004.  MS is an auto-immune disease that affects the nervous system.  (For more information on this, visit
www.nmss.org).   Every hour of the day, someone new is diagnosed with MS in America. With your help, we can find a cure!

I am walking in the NYC MS Walk on April 21st in Staten Island.  I started a team called the MS Walkie Talkies (name derives from the fact that we'll be walking and talking) and we are raising money to walk for a cure to fight MS.  Please help me to raise money for this event, and I'd love it if you'd join my team and walk with us, rain or shine!

This is the link to my page:
http://msnyc.kintera.org/mswalk/ammu

This is the link to my team's page, here you can join my team or donate to our efforts!
http://msnyc.kintera.org/mswalk/mswalkietalkies

Please help me in my effort to bring this disease to an end!

With Lots of Love,
Ammu

RIP Isaac Williams (1979-2007)

I want to take this time to remember a friend.  I hadn't seen Isaac in a while till this past August, but I was shocked that he remembered my name, and was impressed with his warmth and the way he carried himself.  Isaac passed away in a car accident on Friday night.  He was real easy going and you could sense that he was genuinely concerned about your welfare.

I'm grateful that I got a chance to spend some time with him last August, we were able to catch up on life, and share a few laughs.  It was an honor to know him.  As I was reading through his blog today, I came to realize that the tone of his posts had come to reflect his closer walk with God.  I'll leave you with his final post  from March 14th, 2007:

What are "Divine Appointments"? Divine appointments are something that can happen to you or to others through you. The way they cannot happen is if we or others choose not to heed God's call, then we miss out on God's blessing. Today while i was driving home i saw a friend from my old job walking with his fiance, with pizza in tow. I just had a feeling that I should give them a ride to their place. So i did that, and to make a long story short i ended up telling them about my church and asked them if they wanted to go to my church. They said yes! Pray for Steve and his Fiance', that their hearts would be opened when they go to church this Sunday.

God bless!  Your bro in Christ, Isaac.

Congrats Crystal! & More.....

A.  Congrats:  We want to congratulate IPF Inspirations columnist Crystal M. Farre on her marriage to Christian Ramirez.  They were married recently in a private ceremony, and plan a larger event in October, which IPF will cover, but many of you were probably wondering about Crystal's name change.  Congrats!

A Public Service Announcement

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, here at IPF, we consider it our duty to inform, protect, and defend your rights as able bodied men and women.  We believe in you.

Therefore it's my duty to inform you that Krispy Kreme has introduced a brand new whole wheat donut.  Yes, that's right.  Why eat a bowl of Nutri Grain or Special K when you can scarf down a nice whole wheat donut.  How many calories in a regular glazed donut you ask?  200.  How many in the mighty whole wheat donut?  180.  That's right.  You can save a whopping 20 calories by making the switch.  For that kind of savings, why stop at just one?  Have two, three, four, or all of the above.

I hope this Public Service Announcement has been a great help to you.  No need to thank me, and yes, please hold your applause till all whole wheat refreshments have been served.

2007 BSC Planning Underway....

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, we want you to know that planning for the 2007 BSC has been underway for the past few weeks.  Here's what I can tell you thus far:

1.  The tournament will most likely be in August ( the month we shoot for every year).

2.  It will be a Friday/Saturday - Two Day Event.  Last year's trial run at the two day format was successful, so from here on out, it will become the standard.

3.  The tournament will be at the same location as last year, in Gaithersburg, MD.

When we're able to settle on an official date, you'll be the first to know.

B.  Quotes to Remember:  "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ"  - Mahatma Gandhi

New BSC Media & More...

A.  Our next batch of clips from The 2006 BSC are available for download.

B.  NASCAR's Hypocrisy:  This is probably my first (and last) update on NASCAR, a sport I have very little interest in.  One thing did catch my eye last week though.  Apparently many of the established team owners, not to mention the majority of its fans, have a big problem with Toyota entering a car/team of its own.  They cite the fact that NASCAR should be for U.S. automakers only.

I find that amusing b/c the Toyota Camry, the car their entering, happens to be the only car in the competitive NASCAR ranks, that is actually made in America.  The Ford Fusion is built in Mexico, the Chevy Monte Carlo & Dodge Charger, both in Canada.

Spread the knowledge.

C.  Quotes to Remember:  Ladies and Gents, every now and then, I'm going to be adding a memorable quote to the end of my updates.  It shouldn't come as any surprise, the person I begin this with:

"Whatever else history may say about me when I’m gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty’s lamp guiding your steps and opportunity’s arm steadying your way..."

A History Lesson

A.  Boys and Girls, take a look at the following paintings.  Nicely done eh?  Notice the texture & color variation.  Probably pastel and done within the past few hundred years.

So who is the illustrious painter?  Renoir?  Van Gogh?  Da Vinci?  Monet? Matisse?  Rousseau?  Guess again...

Adolf Hitler.  That's right, Adolf Hitler.

What's the lesson of this little exercise?  Don't be so quick to pass judgment.

Rain Bowl Recap.....

A.  Before I say anything else, the NFL needs to change its venue for the Super Bowl.  In my opinion, rain completely changed the course of this game.  I understand that football is to be played in any and all weather, but if 2 teams have made it this far, they deserve to play in a controlled environment, indoors, and in a dome.  I don't think the Bears would have coughed up the ball as much as they did, if not for the rain.

Having said all of that, you have to make plays regardless, and the Colts simply made more.  Manning finally gets the monkey off his back.  Some more thoughts...

- I put Tony Dungy in the same mold as Joe Gibbs in terms of his beliefs and the way he carries himself.  The man has been through a lot, losing his son to suicide last year.  At one point in his coaching career, he even considered leaving football for the prison ministry.  Class act, and no one was more deserving.

 - Rex Grossman should stay outside the Chicago city limits for the next few months.  Those 2 picks he threw were inexcusable.  He just lofted those up there and crossed his fingers.  Doesn't work dude....

- Peyton Manning seemed very non-chalant about winning the biggest game of his life, and thus forever silencing his critics.  That seemed strange.

- Devin Hester is plain ridiculous.

- Gorillas talking to each other?  That's real original....

IPF's 6 Year Anniversary

A.  Ladies and Gentlemen, it's been 6 years.  It honestly feels likes just yesterday when some guy named Chung Lao ate too many mangos and had a wacky idea about a website.  I  can tell you that it's not easy updating and maintaining a site like this, but we believe in what we're doing, and that's kept us going for the past 6 years.

Life is short, and we'd like to think we've made a bit of a difference in someone's life. Whether by a laugh, an inspiration, or something else meaningful, and yes, that includes, most especially, my Redskins updates.

First, I want to thank all of you that continue to visit and support this website.  Your words of encouragement are what keep us going.  Second, I want to thank the IPF staff for all the work they put into keeping this site going.  Last, but not least, I am announcing my candidacy for President of the United States.  Much Love.

B.  Every now and then, IPF will be posting articles from guest columnists, who aren't able to update frequently, but still would like to contribute to IPF.  Sungeeta Jain being an example of this.  We've created a specific section to house all of these articles and make them easier to find.

New Interview, It Can't Be & Internet Explorer...

A.  Manoj Mathew has been interviewed for The Tonight Show.  Be sure to check it out.

B.  Wow:  You know, there are 3 certainties in life.  Death, Taxes, and Binu never updating.  When I checked IPF on Friday, I almost had an epileptic seizure.

In any case, that update has motivated me to make the following proclamation:  As Christians, it's our duty to read our Bible completely every year.  The title "Christian" means nothing without the knowledge.  Therefore, I will be doing so in 2007, which is something I haven't done in a while.

I'll keep you updated on my progress throughout this year.

C.  Internet Explorer:  I realize that there are Mozilla Firefox fans out there, but IPF is best viewed in Internet Explorer.  This message has been approved by Bill Gates.

Long Live The Imperialistic EMPIRE.

D.  Super Bowl is Set:  Congratulations to Jon Flores and his Chicago Bears on getting to their first Super Bowl in 21 years.  I know it feels good to have your home-town team finally get to the big dance, and I know we'll be hearing about it at length on Friday.  Enjoy the moment man, you're team has earned it.  There's just one condition.  Expect to reciprocate come next season.  Skins in Super Bowl 42.

Lastly, anyone that had doubts as to why the NFL is the greatest league in all of pro sports need only to have seen the Colts-Pats thriller.  Colts  34  Bears 21.  Manning won't let what may be his only chance at a title, slip away.

Announcing the 2 Winners of the 2006 BSC Raffle & The Top 5 Reasons Why the 2006 Redskins FAILED.

A.  The Winners of the 2006 BSC T-shirt raffle:  Drum roll please.  After placing all the names into a hat, and randomly selecting 2, we have our winners.  And they are:

Marilyn Thomas from Texas
&
Kevin Joy from Ontario, Canada

Congratulations.  I also want to thank everyone else that submitted names in our first ever contest of this type.  That sentence was too long.  Much Love.

B.  Now that the season is officially over, it's time for me to shed some light on the madness.  Viewer discretion is advised.  For those of you that could care less about the following update, I have 4 words for you.  HAIL TO THE REDSKINS.

5.  No Depth at the Cornerback Position:  When Shawn Springs went down in the preseason, so went our defense.  We couldn't send any linebackers/safeties on the blitz b/c they had to stay back in coverage.  I use the word coverage liberally b/c one Adam Archuleta and one Sean Taylor weren't covering anyone.

Does Carlos Rogers know how to catch?  It's actually kind of funny b/c Walt Harris went and had an almost Pro Bowl season for San Fran this year.  Who'da thunk that one?  Looks like Walt gets the last laugh.

4.  Overpaying for bad Free-Agents:  Adam Archuleta?  BUST.  Andre Carter?  BUST.  Brandon Lloyd?  BUST.  The Skins need a General Manager to come in and clean up the mess.  Case in point:  When Mike Holmgren gave up his GM duties, he took his team back to the Super Bowl.  We need someone to come in and stop over-paying for washed up players, and start drafting young and hungry guys who won't kill us salary cap wise.

3.  Mark Brunell:  I don't hate this guy like many Redskins fans do, but the bottom line is, Joe Gibbs should have benched Mark Brunell much earlier than he did.  Gibbs should have went to Jason Campbell much earlier allowing time for the future.  I know Joe loves his veteran QB's, but Mark was clearly not getting anything down the field.

2.  Joe Gibbs giving way to Al Saunders:  On paper, it seemed like the offense would blow people out.  All the weapons, and with Saunders calling the plays?  It's a wrap.  Problem is, paper doesn't win championships.  It takes time for players/coaches to get on the same page, and many times during the season, the team got away from its smash mouth identity and tried to razzle dazzle people, which cost us several games.  Anybody doubt me, just remember what happened after that 14-0 lead we put up on the Falcons.

Gibbs calling the plays would have actually been enough.  Saunders is proven, and we can't dump him, but Gibbs needs to get more involved in the play calling in '07.  His bust is in the Hall of Fame b/c of his offensive vision.

Drum-roll please.  The #1 reason why the 2006 Redskins failed is....

1.  Over-Confidence:  The Skins entered the '06 season riding high after the exploits of '05.  They made the playoffs, were told how good they were by the media and fans, and let it go to their head.  The Redskins were the last team to report to training camp, and camp was pretty light to boot.  Practices were moved to more favorable times out of "consideration".  No one thought much of preseason as the Skins maintained the offense would come to life on opening day.

The team forgot to realize that every team in the league save a few, wanted to take what the Skins had, that coveted playoff spot, and they did.  Every year is new, and you have to earn your stripes.  The team needs to be more humble/focused going into '07.

This has been a special report from Chung Lao.

Happy New Year, New Affiliate & More....

A.  Happy New Year all, and remember, The Syndicate is watching.....

B.  AtHomeTuition.com:  We are pleased to welcome our newest affiliate, AtHome Tuition.com.  This organization was founded with the goal of helping students who are having problems with math (they plan on expanding their area of subjects in the future).  They have a system in place where you can be in touch with a world class tutor, and set up sessions accordingly.  Works well with busy schedules.

I was able to speak directly with one of AHT's students, and he was pretty pleased with the results.  So if you're in school, and struggling in math, check them out.  A more detailed description of their services is listed below:

About Us

AtHomeTuition was founded in 2006 with the broad vision of empowering students around the world to develop, pursue and achieve their educational goals by providing a caring, nurturing, secure and enriched environment that promotes the overall development of each child. AtHomeTuition provides a web-based interactive learning environment for live exchange with teachers to answer questions, clarify key concepts, and provide guidance during the learning experience.

We have the best teachers in mathematics with extensive experience. They are well trained to nurture, motivate and challenge each student. They evaluate the needs of each student and provide tutoring based on their skill level. They go through a rigorous training process to nurture the child’s confidence in mathematics. Various tools are used to facilitate the communication between the teacher and student making, each tutoring session an one-to-one session. They use hands-free headset with microphone for audio dialogue. Our software allows the student and teacher to write on a shared whiteboard. It also allows the uploading and viewing of documents. From the time students join our program, their progress will be monitored and evaluated periodically to modify our tutoring methods. Unlike the traditional tutoring method, the students schedule their own learning time.  At AtHomeTuition, we are committed to helping your child gain access to the very best and most enjoyable educational materials available along with online tutoring support.
