A.
Gents AND Ladies, your patience has been rewarded. Before I go
further, a shout out to Charles Thomas, Calvin Thomas, Crystal George & Joshua Kurikeshu, all part of our IPF Media crew, for helping bring this footage to
you. Without them, you don't get to enjoy these clips. Much Love.
Post some feedback!
I know what your next question is: "WHEN ARE THE NEXT CLIPS COMING
OUT!!" Well I don't have an answer for you, but what I can say is, keep
checking in. We'll get them all out prior to the 2010 BSC!! ;) Welcome Home.
They say that patience is a virtue lacking to many, well the patience of all the
loyal fans out there will been rewarded on Monday!
We finally solved the conversion issue that was hindering the process, so
we're officially good to go!
This year, there are
3 major differences
from all previous years of BSC coverage:
1. All 26 games: Will be posted. An IPF First.
2. Full Games posted: For the first time, not just the
highlights, but the entire games will be posted. This should give teams/fans a
complete feel as to the ebb and flow of games. Now the caveat to this is,
expect the file sizes to be 650 MB +.
3. IPF Digital: Half of this year's footage will have
a lot better clarity than in years past.
Jon Gruden, the former Super Bowl winning coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had
a saying during their Super Bowl run, POUND THE ROCK. He meant that
if you put the work in, were consistent, and pounded that rock, eventually you'd
see results. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but you'll see results. Flag football is a very small example, but this
applies to life in general.
So after
5 years of blood, sweat, and toil,
Blue team can finally raise that trophy high b/c we pounded that rock, and
achieved victory.
Audio tapes of this presentation are available for $12.99. I will also be
appearing on Oprah on November 3rd, 2013 ;)
B
.BSC 2009 Footage Premieres NEXT MONDAY!: Greatly appreciated
everyone's patience. Been extremely busy as of late, and since this is the
first year we have footage from every single game, it's taken a lot longer.
Buckle up, it begins next week!
Been getting multiple requests for BSC 2009 footage, we hope to begin releasing
them by month's end, so stand by. There's a lot, so it requires time and
then effort, which we effortlessly time to equate to an effor-vessant......don't
get me started!
B.Fed Up with Politics: I use to get into it, but I just
cannot stand politicians on either side anymore. You won't be hearing
about it from this Korean much.
Anybody have some spare Nobels? I hear their pretty easy to come by now...
C.The Rise of China: In my lifetime, the United States has
been the dominant power in the world, it's engrained into most of us that are
around the same age. Strange to think, but in the next 15-20 yrs, China
will lay serious, serious, claim to that title.
Interesting to note that almost 600 years ago, the Chinese sent a massive fleet
around Asia/East Africa as an expression of its power, only to have it
dismantled as the country retreated in on itself. Well, the dragon is
rising.
D.Redskins Report: I would be remiss if I didn't touch on the
burgundy and gold. I will always be a fan of the Washington Redskins,
never question that. However, the team is struggling to the point where
its become painful to watch.
Jason Campbell is
putting up average numbers, play calling is average. In the words of a
president I don't admire, Jimmy Carter, "we're in a malaise."
- Congrats to the 2009 BSC Champion DCZ FINEST, Pics will be up on Wed!
A.
The 7th annual BSC is in the books. A team not named Chicago or Philly
finally claimed the hardware, namely DCZ Finest. I think its important to
note that it took this team 7 attempts at the title to finally claim it.
Perseverance paid off.
"Big Game" aka Jason Thomas played well for them, earning the All-Star
nod. Justin Thomas also played well, winning the MVP award as well
as the 3-pt contest. Alvin Rathinam stepped up in 2009, and the
team got important contributions from Aba Udofa (who hit the game winner
over Texas), and Sam John.
Best Game of 2009:
I'd have to say the Brooklyn-Philly 2nd Round playoff game, in which Brooklyn
pulled off the shocker against the #1 seed, Philly.
**Lots of pictures are coming in. Keep it locked.
Shout outs: I
want to take this time to shout out the following people. Without their
help, this event could not have happened. Crystal George, Charles
Thomas, Calvin Thomas, Josiah Harris, Binu Varughese,
Vinod Varghese, Bensen Oomman, Stanley John, Sam John, Daniel Lopez& all
the team members that helped us man the scoring tables. Also shout out
to Greg Smith of Good Elephant Photography for taking pics! To anyone I missed, many thanks for your support.
2009 BSC Tournament MVP
& 2009 BSC Joe Rosado 3-Pt Champion: Justin
Thomas
2009 BSC Fan Challenge Winner:
Barry Burnett
2009 BSC All-Stars: Jason Thomas
(DC),
Prajin Joseph (Newark), Vincent Ventolora (Brooklyn), David Kurikesu (Texas),
George Jolly (Texas)
DC:
After 7 attempts, 7 ATTEMPTS, DC finally has a championship for its
mantle. Led by "Big Game" Jason Thomas, and with clutch shooting from
eventual MVP Justin Thomas & Alvin Rathinam, victory was secure. Important
contributions from Aba Udofa, who hit the game winner over Texas in the regular
season, as well as Sam John's aid on Friday. Let there be no dispute, DC
is the new champion. Is this the start of a new dynasty?
All Star: Jason Thomas BSC MVP: Justin Thomas 3-Point
Champion: Justin Thomas
1
Brooklyn
:
Look at this team's record from 2007-2009. Steady, constant improvement.
Led by team captain Roy, this very athletic team shocked Philly in the 2nd round
to earn their first ever trip to the championship game. Brooklyn started
off slow, and then ran all the way to the championship game. A very
athletic team that looks to shock the world next year!
All Star: Vincent Ventolora
2
Philly: Never, ever, underestimate this team. Philly went 6-0 in the regular
season, captured the #1 seed, and seemed destined to reach yet another
championship game. Then came Brooklyn, and in a shocker, handed Philly
their only loss of 2009. It's interesting to note that Philly has never
gone more than 2 yrs without winning a title. I expect a rejuvenated
Philly squad in 2010!
3
Texas:
All you have to do is look at their 2008 record, and then look at their 2009
record, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that this team improved
greatly. Led by team captain, Roy. The addition of David Kurikesu
helped them inside, and allowed for Benson Samuel & George Jolly to work the
perimeter. They played the elite teams close, and look to make it to their
first championship game in 2010!
All Star: George Jolly All-Star: David Kurikesu
4
Strong Island:
Team captain, Sijin Samuel. Strong Island had a
comparable year to 2008, even though their record is
technically worse. They were in a lot of games,
playing DC very close. The return of some key
players next year should allow them to make a run at the
title.
5
Gburg:
Team captain Ify Nwoko. Gburg fell off in 2009,
there's no way to sugar coat it. Teams were more
prepared to play this team. Even so, Gburg was in
a lot of games especially against DC, where Ike almost
hit the game tie-ing score. Had Josh Asomugha been
able to play every game with them, I think their record
would have been better.
6
Newark
:
I have to shout out this team. Team captain Jensen Thomas. Led by
All-Star Prajin Joseph on the court, and with important contributions from
players like Jacinth Panicker, Newark was competitive in multiple games this
year, giving teams like Philly and Gburg a run for their money. Much
respect to them, as most team captains agreed that this team greatly improved.
I really believe that with more practice time under their belts, Newark can be a
playoff team in 2010!
All Star: Prajin Joseph
7
2010 BSC - First
look: Chicago looks to return and attempt to dethrone DC. We
hope to have Toronto back in the mix, possibly Yonkers, and a BRAND NEW TEAM!
You know I can't tell you right away. Keep it locked!
All 4 One!!!
POWER RANKINGS/FULL
RECAP RIGHT
HERE...Pics on the Way...
A. Our IPF Sports Weekend recap begins with
the IPF-VBC champs, All 4 One. Shout out to team captain
Angela Lazarus for putting together a team that captured the
title a second year in a row. To be sure, this team
was tested, eeking out some close wins, but in they end,
they showed true championship poise.
B. I'd like to thank
Becky Kurikeshu & Jenet Poopalan for their help with this
year's event. As always, we hope to make next year's event better than
this one!
I'd also like
the thank Charles Thomas, Stanley John, Vinod Varghese, Lindsey Varghese,
Bensen Oomman, Shannon Jacob,
as well as the members of the various teams in attendance that helped us with
score-keeping/line judging. If I missed anyone, many thanks.
All 4 One:
Shout out to team captain Angela Lazarus. All 4 One cemented their status
as the VBC team to beat by capturing their 2nd straight title. Jose Morel
proved again that he's the key to victory, but they got key upgrades all along
the court. Well done.
1
Maryland Storm:
Shout out to team captains Dilshan Rajagopal.
This team wasn't the
surprise team of the year, as they were a good team in 2008, but they made it to
the final with only 5 usable players on court. The addition of Christina
Devairakkam really propelled this team to the next level.
2
NY Shadows
:
Shout out to team captains Sijin Samuel for putting this team together. NY
went 4-1 in the regular season showcasing the strong play of Binu Thomas & Leena
& Lilly Easaw. They had a great run and will come back with renewed fire
in 2010!
3
MOCOYOGRO Panthers: Shout out to team captain Tim Carkhuff.
This was without question the surprise team of the tournament.
After a poor showing in 2008, they responded big time in 2009, holding their own
against the elite teams of this tournament. Very well done, and we look
forward to greater things in 2010.
4
iSpike
:
Shout out to team captain Becky Kurikeshu. Well,
iSpike had a rough go of it in 2009, they were in some
games, but others were tough. Still, volleyball is
this team's call sign, and I expect much bigger things
from the BOOYAKKASHAA family next year.
5
North of 42:
Shout out to team captain Jenet Poopalan for bringing
this team down. They have to travel the farthest
of any team, so their to be commended for the effort.
I think with more practice time, this team will make the
playoffs next year.
6
Appreciate
everyone coming out to support us, especially the fans.
A.
We'd like to congratulate All 4 One on winning their 2nd straight IPF-VBC
title! It's also clear that the 7th time was the charm for DCZ Finest.
The team finally broke through to claim their 1st ever title. Full recap/pics/video
on the way, keep it locked!
We are finally here! Please take
some time this weekend and stop by to show some support. We've got
Basketball & Volleyball planned and it should be competitive & fun to watch.
Will Philly capture a 4th title in the BSC, or will a brand new champion emerge?
Will All 4 One begin a dynasty in the IPF VBC? Or will a new team
dethrone them?

New BSC
Media - The Final Clips
& Rosters Released!
A.
Our 10th and final batch of clips from the 2008 BSC have been released!
In just under two weeks, it'll be time to make some new ones. Can
you feel it?
B.BSC & IPF-VBC Rosters/Rules/Regulations: Are now online!
I just want to say before proceeding any further how appreciative I am to all
of you that visited/called/e-mailed encouragement on behalf of my ammachi (grandma).
It was greatly, greatly appreciated.
A.
Folks, this year, there seem to be a lot more weddings that a typical summer.
Case in point, over the next month,
4 of our very own IPF writers
are getting married,
also known as ending their existence as they know it, entering a world of pain!
(sorry, you know I had to throw that in there!!). But no. I really
do wish them the very best as they move on to this next stage in their lives.
First up is our very own
Jonathan Flores, who married
Angela Susan Daniel (now Flores). On behalf of the IPF Syndicate, I want to wish Mr. & Mrs. Flores
the very best! I hope that God richly blesses you guys as you begin life
together.
Now, if I know Jon, he wrote his next update a few hours before
the wedding.
A.
Yesterday morning, my grandmother passed away. She lived a
full life and spent most of her years in prayer. She was
that figure in our family who constantly prayed for all of us,
and on a more personal note, the Malayalam that I do know, I
learned from her.
I will be posting wake/funeral information by tomorrow morning.
you read that right, we are officially combining
the 2nd Annual IPF Volleyball Classic with the 7th annual
Blessan Samuel Classic. Here's how it'll work.
Friday, August 22, will proceed normally with basketball.
Saturday morning till the early afternoon will be the VBC!
The BSC will then start about an hour afterwards!
This wasn't our original plan, but with the massive number of
weddings/events this summer, this was the only viable option in
order to even have the VBC this year. I want to make one
thing clear,
neither event will interfere with the other, that is first and
foremost on our minds. If this format proves successful,
we'll do it from this year on out. Here's your details:
2nd Annual IPF Volleyball Classic
Saturday, August 22nd, 2009
Gaithersburg, Maryland
Ages: 18 and above (Co-ed)
Per Team: 2 women on court at all times
6 on 6 (unlimited reserves)
$175 per team.
We
want to emphasize that while the goal is for this to be a fun
event, it's also competitive. Anyone looking to kick around a
softball and shatter some windows need not apply.
Official Game Rules will be posted once a set # of teams has
been established.
A. Hey
everyone, today's update will be on Diabetes. As most of
you are aware, it's an illness that affects millions of people
around the world, including young people.
How can we help? Well, by ordering a wrist band for $2.00
(100% of the proceeds going to the JDRF), you'll be helping a
worthy cause. If your looking to make a difference, this
is a small way of doing so.
For more information, and to receive a wrist band, please
contact Jason John at
A. It's
amazing to me that this conflict may be coming to a close.
What's even more amazing is how the rebels laid down their arms.
Still, after the loss of tens of thousands of lives over the
past 25+ years, that's little comfort.
I remember hearing stories from a friend of how close they came
to being killed in this civil war, and how grateful they were to
God, for sparing their lives.
Try to be grateful for the little things my friends b/c life is
short.
A.
Our 8th batch of clips from the 2008 BSC have been released!
Playoffs? Did someone say Playoffs? Much Love.
B
.
Speaking of basketball, if you missed the Bulls-Celtics 1st round series, you
really missed some phenomenal ball, and this is coming from a football fan.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the
symptoms and transmission of the swine flu from human to human
is much like seasonal flu, commonly fever, lethargy, lack of
appetite and coughing. Some people with swine flu also have
reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
It is believed to be spread between humans through coughing or
sneezing of infected people and touching something with the
virus on it and then touching their own nose or mouth. The
swine flu in humans is most contagious during the first five
days of the illness although some people, most commonly
children, can remain contagious for up to ten days. Diagnosis
can be made by sending a specimen, collected during the first
five days, to the CDC for analysis."
New Interview - Akkara Kazhchakal Series
Part 4 of 4
A.
Well folks, we're not
quite done with the Youtube series
Akkara Kazhchakal! Next up is Sajini Sacharaiah, who plays the dutiful
wife, Rincy. Enjoy this short interview!
A. Its
official people. August 21 & 22, 2009, that's a
Friday/Saturday, are the official dates for the
7th Annual Blessan Samuel Classic.
Bohrer Park Recreation Center, Gaithersburg, MD.
We'll post the exact times at a later date. Please make a
note of this, and take time off accordingly. As we always
do, we're getting this information out:
Almost
5 months
in advance!
That should be plenty of time to make
arrangements. Mark those calendars, and keep it locked in
right here for all the smack, information, and updates relating
to this event. Should be a great time as always.
We're working on

New Interview - Akkara Kazhchakal Series
Part 3 of 3
A.
IPF concludes our look at the Akkara Kazhchakal series with an interview with its
2nd director, whose also in charge of script writing, Ajayan.Venugopalan.
Much Love.
B.
There is something amazing to me about the below picture, the President of the
United States sitting courtside at a Wizards home basketball game last week.
C.Skins $100 million dollar man: I realize there'll be a lot
of haters out there saying "Same old Skins" overpaying for free agents. I
do agree that we overpaid for Albert Haynesworth. BUT, BUT, BUT.
This man is not a washed up Bruce Smith or Deion. He's by most analysts
projections, the best defensive lineman in the game.
If he can bring what he did at Tennessee to D.C, our
defense is going to be scary.
New Interview - Akkara Kazhchakal Series
Part 1 of 3
A.
IPF is proud to present to you the first in our 3 week interview series with the
cast & crew of
Akkara
Kazhchakal, the 1.2+ million viewed Youtube series.
You
know him as George
Thekummottil,
and Deaf-enetaley!
Well his real name is
Josekutty Valiyakalumkall
and he's been interviewed right here! Much Love.
A.
Our 5th batch of clips from the 2008 BSC have been released, including the game
in which the all-time BSC scoring record was set by Strong Island. Much Love.
B
.Akkara Kazhchakal:
Next week, IPF is proud to present to you an in depth look at the Internet sensation,
Youtube series Akkara Kazhchakal, which parodies the lives of an immigrant
Malayalee family. We start a
3-part interview
with some of the cast and crew of this series next Monday. You don't want
to miss it, keep it locked!
If you haven't heard about this series, watch the
first episode below for a taste.
I realize the Steelers won, but I have no intention
of discussing them. They didn't even seem that thrilled to have won it.
In any case..
Kurt Warner may
retire after this year's run, and if he does, then I think this run with the
Cardinals should cement his status as a future NFL Hall of Famer. The bird
on the side of that helmet has earned some respect
after this Super Bowl.
They were very, very close to pulling off the upset.
B. Youtube:
Every now and then, I'm going to be posting clips of relevance that I think you
will find educational and uplifting. So, we have Exhibit A: Scarlett
takes a tumble:
Moral of the story? When your about to step toward the edge....resist.
A.
Today marks the
8th year anniversary of the Syndicate's founding. Folks, it's our hope that you've found something insightful, funny,
inspiring or otherwise from IPF. That continues to be our intention, and
we are honored to have you along for the ride with us.
Special shout out to the IPF Staff.
Much Love.
B.
Jon, appreciate the kind words my friend.
C.
Alright, I'm rooting for
Arizona
this weekend. The Steelers have plenty of Super Bowl trophies, they won't miss this one. Also, I've always been a fan of Kurt
Warner. One year he's stocking groceries, the next, he's winning a Super
Bowl. Amazing.
D.
Well, it's time for me to come
clean. I just can't hide it anymore...
A.
Today America turns to a new chapter in its history. The first
President of mixed descent takes his place. President Obama has a lot to
prove to me, but I can't help but be swept up a little in the emotion of his
election. A man of color has become President.
That's a big deal.
I think it speaks to the uniqueness of what is the American experience.
If you look at American History, only a handful of Presidents from each century,
have truly been remembered as difference makers. George
Washington, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Truman, JFK &
Reagan.
I'm not putting Obama on their level, but given the amount of momentum he has
right now, and the unprecedented nature of being the first President of color,
the potential is there. He's an excellent speaker, sure. But is
there more to the man? We shall see.
A.
Ladies and Gentlemen, stop the presses and download the 2008 BSC Game of the
Year, Gburg vs DC. Even though this was a regular season game, it turned
out to be the best of 2008. Who would have thought that the understudy
would beat the master? A clip like this deserves to be posted on its own.
Enjoy.
A.
First off, from the IPF Syndicate, welcome to 2009. The only resolution I
can give is to make it happen.
A very eventful 2008 for sure.
We saw the economic downturn in the U.S., the election of the first American
president of mixed descent. A world that is changing, becoming more
inter-connected than its ever been. A world that has more uncertainty in
it than at any time I can remember. These are trying times, and time to
think about what is really important in this life.
B.
Special shout out to IPF webmaster Benj Arthungal on the birth of his second
child, Kristen Miriam Arthungal, born this past Christmas Day.
C.
Lastly, thanks for staying with us in 2009. We have the IPF Volleyball
Classic & the Blessan Samuel Classic on tap this year, all your coverage
is right here.
Happy New Year all.
